discipler so if people can pray to God and have results if all what your stated is met, cam people also pray to Satan?
And if so, what are his demands for some aid ?
- discipler0
Hym, the Bible teaches that the only requirement for seeing prayer answered, is a relationship with Christ, which begins the moment a person places their faith/trust in him.
From a Biblical perspective, satan does not have the ability to answer prayer. He is a finite, created being who's nature is that of the angelic beings.
And from what i've experienced, satan is accomplishing what he needs to via hypocritical "religious" people, anyway.

I don't know which god to talk to? Do you get better deals with some gods or are they all the same. Personally I would like to talk to some mythic war god that throws thunder.

(Jul 15 05, 06:36)You get 100% interest for the first 6 months with the christian one. I'm not sure if thats a good deal though.

hehe, the problem is, Chimp, that Thor doesn't really exist. ;) The first step is recognizing that there can only be one infinite, omnipresent being. Since he has no beginning and no end, there's no room for any others, logically. :)
And don't let renaissance depictions and common caricatures "mythologize"(i think i just made that word up!) the nature of the one true creator God.

Damn it. I meant 0% interest. Fuck, that could have been quite funny.

So which one is it? There are so many to choose from.

i see i am already too late but sorry disregard that question, i can't help it, the urge was stronger than myself.
I really should stop trying to make a fool of you because (i'm really making a fool of myself and) in away i think you deserve are more respectable than people that call themselves religious but mold their faith to whatever fits their needs. I have Catholics in my family for instance that haven't even read the Bible, but sure are mariied in a church, baptized their kids, claim to believe in God and pray at dinner.
I don't see how you can attach your life in such a way to an institution when you don't even know the base.
I haven't seen these people for 2 years, they don't like me much ;)

I hate religion because it seems jelousy just takes over when someone with a smile from ear to ear says crap like it god helped me.
I just want to punch that person.

----------------------------Are there? ;) A simple way to approach this dilemna is to determine which writings, that introduce the concept of God (or gods), hold the most water, historically and under the scrutiny of textual criticism. Then, once you have established which collection of writings, or canon, is trustworthy, you then proceed to examine what these writings have to say about the nature of God (or gods). And draw a conclusion.

(Jul 15 05, 06:46)Did you pick a christian god before or after you examined the worlds religions?
And don't lie.
- Chimp0
Yeah skt, 100 percent is a bit steep. Don't think I can afford that one, is there some kind of Easy Religion™

hey discipler....I can see you are still just poking your head into religion threads....
why don't you try posting in a design thread for once with something to do about design....
or better yet...... go to a board that you can discuss religion to your hearts content with some people that will maybe listen to you....
the people here only intend to bash....
btw.....we are giving out free water at my church this week cause all of you will need it where you are most likely going....
see you have to give them what they want...... they refuse to take the message of love....and they say all we do is fire and brimstone.... so give them fire and brimstone...

can proper praying techniques even be thought? shiiiit.

I hear what you're saying, Hym. I have a difficult time with the notion of the "Christian Religion". I mean, if you look at the life and ministry of Christ, he was a radical, real, authentic, and passionate person who ate with prostitutes and gamblers and honored women in a culture that opressed them and condemned religious hypocrites. So, I disdain cold, ceremonial religion because it's not what Christ taught. When we get back to the Bible, we find that being a "Christian" is about being a radical follower of Jesus and modeling our lives after his.
It is encouraging to know that there are true groups of believers who recognize that following Jesus is not "religion", but knowing God thru Christ and living as Jesus did.

actually yes... there are books and classes that actually talk about this kind of thing...
- anon0
the word mythologize already excists you douchebag. i thought you thought you were "educated".
- discipler0
liquid, i frequent this site because I have a deep interest in graphic and web design. It just so happens, that I love God too. It would be one thing if I came trolling in here starting these threads, but I don't. I simply respond in an already moving discussion. Furthermore, I believe that there are a few here (and who knows how many others who lurk but do not post) who have an open mind and just may be willing to abandon their presuppositions and caricatures about Christianity. So, if i can occasionally contribute something in a thread like this, I'm going to. Don't forget that the Bible teaches pre-evangelism: removing obstacles to faith through intelligent discourse.
- discipler0
thank you for so respectfully clearing that up for me, anon. Sorry that disagreeing with someone causes you to hurl insults at them. I had never heard of that word, it sounds like a Bush-ism.
