Are there? ;) A simple way to approach this dilemna is to determine which writings, that introduce the concept of God (or gods), hold the most water, historically and under the scrutiny of textual criticism. Then, once you have established which collection of writings, or canon, is trustworthy, you then proceed to examine what these writings have to say about the nature of God (or gods). And draw a conclusion.
