Obama's Persecuting Christians: The Movie
- moldero0
- so truemonospaced
- What if science is political but you failed to grasp that...yurimon
- you're still confusing the corrupt parts of some scientific communities for science itself. they are not the same thing.scarabin
- yeah there is also those part that science can't comprehend. Science is a method but also is imbalanced.yurimon
- if we could comprehend everything we wouldn't need science. what are you talking about?scarabin
- that is true but science in its current form is imbalanced... Just look at the pyramids. science was holistic when they were built.yurimon
- it's not imbalanced, it is just a method for figuring things outmonospaced
- it can't explain consciousness or have a means to find out what it is. its limited..yurimon
- besides all the so called great scientist were mystics or got their ideas from old texts like vedas etc.yurimon
- science has explained consciousness. you can watch thoughts occur, memories being formed, on the molecular level. there's a ton of research going into this.scarabin
- what do the pyramids have to do with anything?scarabin
- scarabins right, science has an explanation for it, and at this point it's the only one with any sort of credibilitymonospaced
- pyramids are an exceptional accomplishment in math, engineering and science. before science. yet science cant explain everything. and has its limityurimon
- everything and has its limits...
yurimon - science is only limited by reason. it's not a magic 8-ball. that's what religion is for.scarabin

Philosophers have debated the existence of god since before history.
But, I'm sure you guys will finally settle the matter in this thread.

I went to church this past Sunday. It was a nice time.

we can still discuss it, or not?- question is for nb********
- Of course! Discuss! I just think it's funny how much people allow these forum arguments to frustrate them.********

some preachers are good but Sam couldn't bring in the money by telling people to get off their asses...

can some one scientifically explain and prove consciousness without going new age?
- yes, some scientists canmonospaced
- It begins with parts of the brain developed to address the concept of a self. Then upper level cognitive thinking.monospaced
- Wrong...not really. it mechanical explanation that doesnt explain the essence.yurimon
- that's what you think, but believe it or not, all evidence points to that mechanical process being consciousnessmonospaced

- science works in mysterious waysmoldero
- scarabin0
sure thing. start by reading the bibliography here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Con…
- thats philosophy and semantics.. doesnt get to the core essence...of matteryurimon
- that's way more than just philosophy and semantics, btwmonospaced
- whenever we talk about matter you get bent and insist that "essences" are involved. make up your mind alreadyscarabin
- scarabin0
read about spindle cells while you're at it, i've always found the subject to be fascinating. they're only found in some hominids, whales, dolphins and elephants, and are thought to have enabled the development of advanced brain function; some say self-awareness.
- its a mechanical explanation not core understanding. not holistic.yurimon
- yeah, and you have some sort of understanding that you haven't shared with us?monospaced
- hate to break it to ya, but the universe is mechanicalscarabin
- monospaced0
yurimon, you asked for a "scientific explanation" and we're giving you one, but you're saying it's simply mechanical. The thing is, that's what science has done, it has shown that the mechanics of our brains are responsible for creating memories, the sense of self, and so on. Even love has been attributed to biological processes, bonding based on chemical triggers in the brain. Yes, mechanical, but the end result for the person is a convincing consciousness.
- its a mechanical doesnt explain core consciousness in atoms or quantum level there is more then just mechanical soup.. science cant explainyurimon
- consciousness in atoms? what the fuck are you talking about?monospaced
- loool!scarabin
- monospaced0
For example, pictures were recently taken that show how neurons form connections and, ultimately, memories. It's a mechanical function that explains a conscious function. It's just how it works.
This of course was tested by science and has been tested for centuries. Look into brain damage, accidental and otherwise, and how certain areas affect things. You'd be surprised at how thorough neuroscience has been in explaining much of the brain's function.
- that's old, my apologies, I know a recent study was done in the last few weeks with better scientific proofmonospaced
- its doesnt explain consciousness..
its an attempt to explainyurimon
- monospaced0
Attempts to explain are exactly what science is doing. You asked, you got it. There are literally thousands upon thousands of papers on the subject, entire medical fields dedicated to it, and heaps of studies spanning centuries on the subject. If you're only fucking response is going to be "doesn't explain," then you clearly aren't grasping any of it. Apparently it's not thorough enough for you to agree with, but that doesn't really excuse the other explanation, that it's supernatural.
- there are studies and still cant piece some espects. these studies only gauge on how our bodies perception of consciousness is effected not exactly the core rootyurimon
- is effected by manipulation of certain areas. it doesnt get to the core of consciousness on quantumyurimon
- level, nor can does it have a holistic picture that unifies all the mechanical aspects in connection to our existence.yurimon
- i don't think quantum means what you think it means, mate.scarabin
- yueah, where are you getting this notion that consciousness has anything to do with quantum physics?monospaced
- And if it does, then it's pure science anyways. Quantum principles are only known through science. There you go.monospaced
- its limited. i dont understand why you can get into your head. its not unifying enough to give the full picture. it doesn't show the sum of the parts..copeashyurimon
- your answer mono consciousness n quantum http://www.youtube.c…yurimon
- Everyone knows this; it's really old. Nothing to do with consciousness, and neither does the unifying theory of physics.monospaced
- theory of physics. Why can't you get that through your head?monospaced
- because if he agrees he is denouncing the man who is watching him from spacemoldero
- get em while their young, yurimon questions everything xept for his faithmoldero
- hes a faithful lad, which rises the question, if that is a good trait to have in the first placemoldero
- in the grand scheme of things. Yurimon is cool in my book, he simply doesn't want to betraymoldero
- but blind faith is how they get you as a kid, its scary shit. form of child abuse.moldero
- Fuck you Moldy!!moldero

What does science's ability to explain "consciousness" prove or disprove? Whatever it is, we came up with the idea of and name for it.
- scarabin0
you're asking for us to explain it in non-new age ways, then attaching all this new age "holistic" bullshit to it
- ESKEMA0
pyramids are an exceptional accomplishment in math, engineering and science. before science. yet science cant explain
