Dear ******* ,I will have this work complete by the end of the month.
I'm hoping to work on it this weekend but if it doesn't get done.

- swollenelbow0
what does writing off $165 do for me?
- gabe0
just my opinion...
if you are in the business of exchanging money for your services, you assume a certain responsibility to conduct yourself in a professional manner.
one of the disadvantages of freelancing is that you must work not only as the designer, but as the project manager, sales team, and owner of a company.
that means analyzing risks and not taking jobs if you don't think they will be beneficial to you in some form or another.
if you do accept a project, you see it through from start to finish, even if you realize halfway through that it's not going to be profitable for you.
or, if you realize that a client becomes difficult to work with, you arrange an agreemnt to cease work on the project.
writing an email like that is unprofessional, regardless of the circumstances.
- liquid0
piece of mind..... you dont have to do shitty work..... the client knows they cant screw you....you get the satisfaction of telling the client......F OFF
- liquid0
as sonny in bronx tale would say "you got off cheap"
- swollenelbow0
gabe, yes i totally understand. i wouldn't say taht under any other situation.
but this lady thought she could push me around, and then after what i thought was a friendly relationship, she just blows me off like i didn't give her my time and effort to complete her projects. she was giving me shit. i admit i agreed to certain thing, but none of the things i did for her where ever in contract. she wanted the whole fuckin 9 yards, and she was mean about it. cut me a fuckin break here.
- Spix0
wanna read full story.
- gabe0
hey elbow, it's nothing personal, it's just my opinion, looking from the outside in, so it'easy for me to take such an objective stance on it.
we've all made the same mistake i'm sure.
kill 'em with kindness instead! let them be the one to lose their cool if it comes to it.
in the end you'll always come out looking as the better man, especially when it comes to doing business.

for spix, n gabe.

maybe i'm beating a dead horse, but for me there's no basis that really justifies an unprofessional e-mail.
if the client is being unreasonable and they are trying to squeeze more work out of you than what you originally agreed upon, then it's your job to tell them that it's beyond the scope of the project and that it will be billed extra.
don't agree to it then let the project linger for whatever other reasons...
the client is right in expecting that if you accepted to do something, then it will be done in a timely manner.
not trying to sound holier than thou, just offering my opinion...

yeah, be like buddha.
the only way to go!
- BonSeff0
maybe you jus got frustrated, but this sounds far from unreasonable

candlegal44: of course it is Marco. this is the first time that you are saying it will take long. i kept asking, if my deadlines were ok, etc. and you said yes. the reason i ask you is to get realistic feedback. so once you say x,y, z that is what i am going by. i understand you have to work late but there are many times that we set time to work and you don't show up because you have to get your parents, girlfirend, whatever...i am just asking that you be frank and let me know. if its too much or not worth it for you, then i need to know that. but you cannot say "i'm giving you way more than someone else so just be happy with that"
candlegal44: that's not fair

yeah, be like buddha.
the only way to go!
_salisae_(Nov 26 04, 17:51)
or just smoke some buddha, and let the project slide a lil longer.
:)

Write the e-mail, just don't send it. Not even by mistake, you never know who she'll know and bad news travels faster than good news.
- swollenelbow0
alright, let me just tell you guys that this lady is a client of the company i work for. i didn't know that it was going to turn into a slave trade. there were about 4 points covered in our original contract, and out of the goodness of my own heart i went ahead and did anything and everything to make her site not look like the shit she originally had. yes miss a deadline, make a deadline, whatever, point is that i worked my fuckin ass off for her and what fuckin slack do it get, NOTHING! all i wanted was "ok marco, sure, you know what, i know that you have put a lot of things aside to help me out, why not take a day, finish what you need to finish, and we'll continue from there"
is that really hard to do? seriously.
