i guess these are bulletproof and that they just might not have enough vests themselves..
goes to show how much police is present there at the moment.

Such a shame that this is happening there. It's definitly the passing of an era in Dutch culture.

Anyone seen that thing on the Swiss locking up asylum seekers in desolate military bunkers? The plan is to make it so unappealing to want to claim asylum, that no one will. Thats the problem, it's a wider issue of asylum and immigration from poor countries - that isn't at all about religion - which causes panick in Europe. But of course you got the whole war on Al Qaeda shit going on, so it's so much easier conflating all these into one big "say no to Islam" campaign.

and you're right about how it only takes one event to spark this tension. people shouldn't be so quick to say exactly what they think. look at nt for gods sake and how quickly discussions turn into slanging matches. recently i'd swear the nt button rollover noise is the recorded thunk of a collective knee-jerk, what ever happened to diplomacy?
