technically that space is for speakers, the grills are just on the bottom.
As with most things, wait till you see one face to face. at first i didn't like the design of the new screens, it resembled a PC type look, non-Apple, but once i saw one....well i must have one.
once the iMac is out, try to get to an Apple Store or something and try it out, i guarantee your opinion will change.

put some cords running out the back of it hanging down.....then see what it looks like...
I wish all the hook ups..usb etc were in a different place...like running down the by the stand or something...something seems off there.

that's true... anything plugged into the back will ruin the whole neat look with wires hanging all over the place.
It does look great though.

I think having all the ports on the back is a great place to have everything plug into. It is all within an arms reach, and it allows you to easily set whatever you plug in(firewire drive, camcorder, scanner, etc) right on your desk, leaving no wires hanging down anywhere to accidently get pulled or snagged. Plus if you are smart, you would just order one with bluetooth, airport extreme and the wireless keyboard and mouse, and then everything you use on a regular basis would be wireless(printer would be hooked to airport express)
I really think its pretty kick ass.

okay, i have not read any other posts than the first and last, and i'm sure someone has already said this....but....
everyone knows: an all-in-one-component is a pain in the ass!

well regarding the ports, yeah that is a little far to the right but you can just run everything through the hole in the stand so you won't see anything at all, the cables will be behind it.

At first glance, I wasn't too thrilled with it but after watching the video of it at the Paris expo - I'm hooked.
Plus, (as someone mentioned earlier), the extra white space on the bottom makes a perfect space to put your post-it notes or phone lists. ;-)
