I will admit, it didn't strike me as a great design at first, but after reading about it and checking out some real life pictures of it at the Paris Expo, I think its the computer for me. A comparable low-end Powermac with a 20" display will put you at almost 4, while the top of the line iMac will run a little over 2 with all the goodies I would need. Of course its not as fast as a Powermac I don't need that kinda speed anyway. So hell yeah I am buying one.

at first sight it looks a bit shite for Apple.. i mean, very large frame around the screen .. a bit dull as well..

AHA!!! The rumor pictures were real. I like it. They should have moved that way a long time ago when the Powerbook Ti came out. The new monitors match up with the new G5s as well as the laptops...so the iMac would match up with the iBooks. Makes sense to me.

it's just like a laptop that's not convenient to carry around. why not make a desktop that has a long monitor cable/power cord/usb so you can put the desktop in a closet or something and the monitor have a single cable going into it. also have a DVD drive, usb/firewire plugs and power switch built into a lcd monitor.

2 things.
1. Yes.. this means G5 laptops are close.. hopefully.
2. They should have thrown in some really flat speakers in teh front of the imac ... made a nice long white mesh along the bottem.. that would have set it off and served a purpose for that much wasted space

then it would be called a TV instead of the iMac.
there are tons of relativly inexpensive speaker setups available now that sound fantastic. Klipsch for example, home theater like 5.1 setup for like $199. plus since the new iMac has an optical port, they'll work.

I am saying.. there is this big ass front white spot that isnt getting used. and looks like crap.
there are speakers out there that are like a few millimeters thin.
Also you canuse panes of glass as speakers. Glass makes great simple speakers. they could have easily in corporated some simple speakers in teh front that only took up max 1/8 of an inch

Acctually the flat speakers now sound about as good as those crappy round ones... and the glass ones sound pretty good too.. nothing awesome.. but good for built in

I agree its a little flat out front, I will take mine in for a boob job as soon as I get it. :)
