my old band played a few shows with an intense christian band that would pray and preach during their set.
the best part was the "abortion is murder" and anti-gay stickers on their gear next to propaghandi stickers and the like.

heavyarms - This is a thread pertaining to Christians/Christian related issues...
...bashing & intollerance are inevitable.

back int eh 70's a christian rock band was considered non-christian even if they had a message that was. the idea that rock music can't be christian.
I think it's BS. Christian music today is one of the largest growing formats. For every kind of music you find in some store, there's a christian counterpart.
JazX:
as for being able to hear what they say. They usually have liner notes with lyrics. but that's like trying to talk with my mom about understanding the lyrics in an Anthrax song. There's always a message in these songs. The message is the key, the music is the medium.
The other part of that is that christians like to be entertained as well. This catagory of music just opens the door for them if they've always had a vice for music.

I have to agree with jevad. Punk christian music seems like an oxymoron.
I mean, what are you angry about? I'd get it if they were screaming f*k satan or something...but thats not very christian.

word, xaos...
Marilyn Manson has a definite message using music as a platform, so did Rage Against the Machine. Just two examples of many groups with definite agendas, who use(d) music as the platform.

too each his own. everyone's a critic to one degree or another...I can say that same about some of the so-called punk bands of today.
- Mimio0
I agree,
Punk Rock is about "tearing it down" and social nihilism something not really congruent with Christian ideals and faith.

I'm not bashing Christianity, I grew up with it. I just find it funny that there are bands that use it the theme to make money, kinda' like a crooked road-side preacher. I could probably quote more scripture verses than the entire lot of you too. BTW, if you are into modern day pentecostal style dogma, then one should call themself a 'believer' not a Christian, it's way too general.

Although he is above the government, in human form he was subject to and killed by the government and was considered a rebel by the government and the religious establishment. Although he was and is above the government it was considered part of a divine plan.
I'm pretty sure the Romans were afraid that he may disrupt the government and incite public disturbance.
Maybe he didn't intentionally rebel against the government. I'll have to look into it more.
I don't think it is arguable that he intentionally rebeled against the religious establishment. One of many examples: He was involved in a public disturbance at the Temple in Jerusalem when he overturned the tables of the moneychangers and broke open the cages of animals to be sacrificed.

i remember reading an article a while back citing declining sales in christian music due to internet piracy.
thought that was seriously fresh

Fugazi proselytize their "straight-edge" lifestyle/belief system and no one questions their "punkitude", if you will.

Bonseff, what is Christian music? And is it just professing Christians who exclusively download it?

true. those kind of people blow it for the rest of us.
the worst is when i see people on the road - it seems some of the people with the worst road rage are the ones with the little jesus fish on their cars. sad

Been around Christians and Christians in bands for many many moons... never seen any hate literature, "anti-gay" stickers, etc... on any gear.
