original sin? adam's sin corrupted human nature. here's the truth - any person who would have been in the garden would've done the same thing.
look at what you got from your parents. do you have your dad's smile, your mom's hair, etc?? just like genetic material is passed down so is sin. get it?

- 1 Timothy 2:6
"[Christ] ...who gave himself as a ransom for all men–the testimony given in its proper time. "The Bible teaches that Jesus was not only the ransom sacrifice for Adam, but also for Humanity as a whole. Hence Jesus is referred to as the "second Adam" in scripture...
"But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!" - Romans Ch. 5.
&
"For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. "- 1 Corinthians 15:22
Sin in scripture is likened to a blood sickness. And it has been passed down through all generations since the fall of Adam. No one is exempt.
"For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. " - II Corinthians 5:21
On the cross, Jesus took all sin, past, present and future, on his shoulders. He was the only one qualified - he was perfect as he was (is) fully God and fully man.

This is why I am convinced that following Jesus stands in stark contrast from the man-made religions of this world. Had the Christian faith been invented by humans, it would be all about what we could do in our strength to earn rightness with God.
It would not teach that we are bankrupt in our sin and helpless without the shed blood of Christ to be received by faith alone.

For the intellectually honest here:

I understand.
I'm still interested in your theory about original sin. Thats one of many arguments that has gone back and forth for many centuries
- froww0
I believe that God created Adam and Eve and that He created them without sin - but at the same time, that He created them with the ability to choose sin. Lucifer decieved them and they chose to disobey God.

Ahhhh Mimio,
A verse that you may have missed...
Romans 9:17-18
17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

i hooked up a bootleg of this soggy piece of digital flesh and i have to say....i really agree that....this is not a religious film, but an exercise in ego. having said that, the first ten minutes or so were slightly effective in translating some of the Bosch type imagery onto the screen. But, yes, ultimately this is a snuff film based on 90% perspective and if you, like me, KNOW that life is 99.9% perspective, then you know what im talking about. Gibson is a vicious bitch to hoist his sado-masochistic fantasies on unsuspecting audiences. But what is most horrifying is the trans-textual element of this whole thing....that audiences will equate this film with a religious experience BECAUSE of it's unrelenting repetition of violence. This film is little more than Mel Gibsons Museum of the Perverse. If you want to see a better film about the "Dark Ages" see The Devils by Ken Russell. Too bad, i would, however, like to see somebody do a film with that Bosch Dark Fantasy kind of vibe... maybe have RZA do the soundtrack, and leave "G_D" out of the screenwriting credits....

We all know that everyone has their own feelings toward this topic. But I admire Mel Gibson for taking a stance in his beliefs. No matter what you walk away with, hopefully you can at least understand the sacrifice. The movie, for me, was extremely emotional. Since I am a very visual thinker, it helped me to solidify my beliefs and understanding. It's a positive step forward that it has stired a response from people. Maybe that's all Mel Gibson was looking to do.

Mel would make more $ if he included this in his merchendise:

well, seeing that i paid nothing to view this propaganda, i can't say that mel gibson succeeded in anything beyond the monetary resurrection that has befallen him. maybe, though, he's proven the absolute validity of the argument that religion= $.
hmmm....

Sad how desperately people are trying to find something wrong with this film. It's funny, I'm not hearing any criticism about the violence and gore in the movie about flesh eating zombies... hmmm.
Bottom line: What Christ endured was very accurately portrayed in The Passion. Reputable scholars and physicians alike tell us it was that severe.

You know it really amazes me that in this "secular" age, a religious film can be so offensive to so many non-christans. Propaganda wud be something that goes out to convince non-believers. To even begin to appreciate this film you gotta know a whole massive back-story of who jesus was, what he taught, his disciples, immacualate conception - yada yada yada. If gibson had made a film like that, then that wud be propaganda - and then the same people who are complainin about how the film teaches nothing of what Jesus stood for, wud be complaining about a load of unfounded religious-bullshit.
As a non-christian, i thought the film was a fun (i'm twisted) cheesy gore-fest. But then, this film wasn't made for my infidel mind.
I just dont get what the fuss is about, and why people get into the whole "religion is all lies!" debate. Like they HAVE to counteract this film somehow.
By the way d5ive, your work is fuckin amazing, and has been inspiring me for years. You fuckin rock dude.
