i hooked up a bootleg of this soggy piece of digital flesh and i have to say....i really agree that....this is not a religious film, but an exercise in ego. having said that, the first ten minutes or so were slightly effective in translating some of the Bosch type imagery onto the screen. But, yes, ultimately this is a snuff film based on 90% perspective and if you, like me, KNOW that life is 99.9% perspective, then you know what im talking about. Gibson is a vicious bitch to hoist his sado-masochistic fantasies on unsuspecting audiences. But what is most horrifying is the trans-textual element of this whole thing....that audiences will equate this film with a religious experience BECAUSE of it's unrelenting repetition of violence. This film is little more than Mel Gibsons Museum of the Perverse. If you want to see a better film about the "Dark Ages" see The Devils by Ken Russell. Too bad, i would, however, like to see somebody do a film with that Bosch Dark Fantasy kind of vibe... maybe have RZA do the soundtrack, and leave "G_D" out of the screenwriting credits....
