"[Christ] ...who gave himself as a ransom for all men–the testimony given in its proper time. "The Bible teaches that Jesus was not only the ransom sacrifice for Adam, but also for Humanity as a whole. Hence Jesus is referred to as the "second Adam" in scripture...
"But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!" - Romans Ch. 5.

Sin in scripture is likened to a blood sickness. And it has been passed down through all generations since the fall of Adam. No one is exempt.
"For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. " - II Corinthians 5:21
On the cross, Jesus took all sin, past, present and future, on his shoulders. He was the only one qualified - he was perfect as he was (is) fully God and fully man.
