I've met him once. Seemed nice and was quite happy to answer our questions. I like some of his stuff.

i still enjoy seeing his stuff and i appreciate what he did for design by pushing the boundries. He has had the opportunities to do more and create more as he sees fit in the last 10 years...than most of us would dream of. He is doing what he wants and how he wants to do it....while making a living doing it...I can't bag on someone doing that. Sounds pretty good to me. Whatever you think of him he has made his mark on the design world and changed how people view art vs. desing.

so what if david carson sells alot of books backstreet boys sell alot of cd's but i would not buy the shit yes david carson made a impact in the early mid 90's but was it positive ? no i saw so many students try to imitate his steez and fail to learn the basics of good design (i'm glad he is rich ect but that does not make him a great designer

Who said anything about selling a lot of books? I was commenting him on his approach and doing the type of design he wants to for a living. His design is more art than design. What was good about what he did was he changed the way we think of design and approach it. He lives in a different world than most designers and most of the rules in what he is doing don't apply to him. People or students who copy him are learning something if not in general aesthetics. If they are not learning basic design it is not his fault but they own or they professors.

I bet the same persons who don't like Carson are the ones who are jocking 2advanced every night and day. It's so typical, fucken flashmunchers.
Carson is one of those designers who opened a lot of doors for us, at least give him your proper respect you illiterate herbs.
