Who said anything about selling a lot of books? I was commenting him on his approach and doing the type of design he wants to for a living. His design is more art than design. What was good about what he did was he changed the way we think of design and approach it. He lives in a different world than most designers and most of the rules in what he is doing don't apply to him. People or students who copy him are learning something if not in general aesthetics. If they are not learning basic design it is not his fault but they own or they professors.
