Carson scared the old guard, his ways opened design up to anyone with a computer and a zen style book of intuition wisdom. His layouts were very pretty but that is all,they failed because of all the typographic tricks that he used.
I would be lying if I said I didn't at some point like Carson.

I'm look at an old copy of raygun now, there is no really start point the type filps from a vertical column to horizontal, why? I cannot be arsed to even start reading it, thats the point, I don't like Carson cause he makes the information hard to read and absorb!!

well those typeface thingies the monks made in the really old pre-laptop days were quite chaotic. must say they were really good in slamming as much stuff into 1 letter.

he got lucky to do what he did with raygun, aside from that he is highly overrated in my opinion, anybody can make 'bootiful' stuff shuffling photos aruond on a desk and cutting them n half etc but when you look at his commercial design work and it is truly dire, I mean it is utter drivel.
He had his time, now he should just lie down imho.
