Photoshop tutorials can actually be helpful, but only to an extent. I always find myself going off right after the beginning of the tutorial and experimenting on my own. It kind of follows my use of manuals when assembling something. I use the manual for a quick run-through and the stuff I really don't get, and try to figure out the rest myself.

i have a similar behavior, Jaline, where i feel like i have to do things differently than has been done before. For example, in audio, if there's an effect (delay, reverb, chorus, whatever) i can never bring myself to use one of the preset settings, all of which sound great, i'm sure. i have to tweek it myself, even if it ends up being worse than the preset. i'm working to overcome this malady.

I came to the realization last night that relocating all the way across the country in a time of "global financial crisis" was not the best idea. Guess i'm stuck at my job/in dc for another year and a half, better start learning flash and buffing up my portfolio for when the time does come!
