my experience with 2.0 inch tires and bigger is that you don't want them on your front wheel! quick steering is impossible... the first time i tried my 2.35 inch i crashed in the first descent, cutting off all the shift-/break cables.
after that i took smaller tires ( http://www.schwalbe.com !)and less treads on the front tire.

nice bike sherman!...i take you've ridden the park before...being you live in vic and all.
lemme know when you're in town!...can take you to some of the trails off the mtn if you're not familiar with the area.

sweet...likei said, lemme know when you're down
the park attendance is up 70% from last year so far and they've added a bunch of new stuff...also the biker-x kills what they had last year...wall rides, big doubles, log rides and all!

Not to hijack the thread, but here's a link to my bike:

And if you've got a 1300 cad for a bike, try this:
http://www.norco.com/bikes/2003b…If you've got around 1000-1100 cad for a bike, go with this:
http://www.konaworld.com/kw_inde…Personally, I'd pony up for the Norco, but that's only because I aced my Kona Stinky DeeLux up at Whistler last year...

Freakin' frames. On the Kona site, make your way to the Kona Stuff. It's a solid frame that you can build off of as you get better...
Or else check out:
http://www.nsmb.com/ for the buy and sell section...

Pro deals, baby! I'm getting this for about $400 less than retail :)
http://www.norco.com/bikes/2003b…I've heard the discs can be iffy, some like them, some don't. Maybe go for hydrolics instead of mechanical.

2cent-Those trails look insane. Never been there, but ridden some good semi flat trails when I lived in Texas.
I'm getting a bike tomorrow, a Trek 4100 most likely, they're going for $269 at a store here in Chicago. Will mostly be riding on paved trails, streets along Lake Michigan. It's beautiful, weather these days is wonderful and when winter rolls around again-if I look back and think I didn't enjoy the good weather, I'm going to really regret it.There are some trails near Chicago that people drive to that are supposed to be really good. I miss riding dirt stuff and all that alot.

Get a good saddle. Don't crush your penal artery.

Buy what feels best.
One bit of advice.
Put your money into a good frame even if it means low quality components. Its the backbone of any bike and is the most costly part to replace.Chances are as a beginner offroader your bust stuff anyway and thats when you upgrade.
When that time comes go XTR ;)
