my experience with 2.0 inch tires and bigger is that you don't want them on your front wheel! quick steering is impossible... the first time i tried my 2.35 inch i crashed in the first descent, cutting off all the shift-/break cables.
after that i took smaller tires ( http://www.schwalbe.com !)and less treads on the front tire.
