    • This is now the default save option in Illustrator.i_monk
    • a simple do not show this prompt again toggle in the UI but nooo Adobe wants your creative on their servers... FU I need to work locally.jonny_quest_lives
    • they want users to save their files on the cloud so they can scrub the images so Adobe's AI image algorithms get better... Prove me wrongjonny_quest_lives
    • it's just convenient...you can switch in preferences file handling if you prefer old school (at least in ps)uan
    • Just set default location thanks! Still think there should be a set default dialog on that window so you can be done with it there.jonny_quest_lives
    • I would NEVER trust anyone with my files on their server but I've been able to get adobe to stop asking me to save to cloud. There's a Don't ask again option.CyBrainX

Updated InDesign on Saturday and now the file I created on Friday won't export as a PDF despite working fine before the update. No useful error messages - just says "Failed to export the PDF file". Had to crack out distiller for the first time in a long while and it works fine there. Fuckin hopeless

    • ever tried print-> pdf printer? or u need the special export features?sted
    • Tried that but can't print to PDF directly from ID print dialog. You get another error. So shitsausages
    • Can you override the ID print dialog?nb
    • You might try uninstalling acrobat and reinstallingnb

I had to uninstall Photoshop 2021 and revert back to PS 2020, PS 2021 keep crashing for no apparent reason. "Adobe Photoshop has unexpectedly quit" Fuck you Adobe!

    • yeah, i have that same issue.Bluejam
    • https://affinity.ser…hans_glib
    • Same here, across the board on all apps, except for Bridge. Because Bridge is so important.fyoucher1
    • I haven't had crashing issues. I love Bridge. I use it all the time and more since I switched to Windows last year.CyBrainX

Getting very close to sacking off Adobe completely, has anyone done this successfully? How is it working with other people, file sharing etc? Any issues with compatibility?

    • No good replacement for InDesignnb
    • i like affinity publisher but i doubt it's compatible.hans_glib
    • You can only do this if you're a freelancer and works good for one-off projects. If you work with other teams, you need a subscription again fuuuuugrafician

This update has been really buggy for me. Indesign is having issues with scrolling in a document. Whats in the viewport remains static but the scrollers still work.

Also having some major issues in photoshop with "Export as" feature which is something I rely on heavily. I get an error report in the export window on files that worked fine in the previous version. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • At least, its only 600$ a year! Imagine if it was 5K lol We're lucky in the end :D
      ...

    • For me InDesign 2019 would always lock up just after launching, even on a clean OS install! ID 2020 finally works again, though I'm sure there are other bugs...evilpeacock
    • Im sharing indd files and PS files with a colleague and he's having no issues with the same files. Prob some issue my side.thumb_screws

I just bought an image of USD coming out of an ATM form Adobe Stock. When i went to open it with Photoshop i get the "this application does not support the editing of bank note images" dialogue box.

It's weird as it never been an issue with shots i have used of any currency over the years.

Would of been great to know that an image I bought from their stock library is not editable with their products before paying tor the extended licence.

    • fascinatingmonospaced
    • intrigued to know how they identify currency. The image have a metadata tag or is it their something PS that picks it up.thumb_screws
    • they recognize the pattern from the money with a bit of code inside photoshop, been there nearly 20 yearsimbecile
    • have you tried importing the image onto a blank canvas?imbecile
    • Will give it a go. Cheers.thumb_screws

I get a gazillion emails from Adobe, always asking me to check out XD because it is so great and "professionals love it" . When, as far as I can tell it's still the same half-baked, do-nothing app it was during the beta. Am I missing something? You can draw boxes and make them clickable. Is this really the hallmark of innovation? This should be a palette inside illustrator, not a stand alone app.

    • It's a mixed bag, but I think XD is faster for a lot of things and has some potential. They add stuff to it at an alarming rate, which makes learning it harder.evilpeacock
    • XD can import artboards or arrayed content from PS, and from text files. Nothing else Adobe makes can do this as easily.evilpeacock
    • If nothing else you can use XD to import AI artboards, then export to AE quicker than it would usually take to batch AI to files, etc.evilpeacock
    • i'm using it, it's not that bad. has potential. the text tool is a piece of shitBluejam
    • I'm loving XD, it's light and super practical. They haven't ruined it with too many features yet!zarkonite
    • I'm liking it. takes some getting used to, though. It can get messy real fastGnash
    • They just added Guides...grafician

According to some of you guys here all Adobe software should be free. And come with a pacifier too for when you feel like whining :)

    Nnngh, this is ... odd.

In Photoshop, I have a rectangular thing in the centre of a document, and it's layer is otherwise transparent. When I go to filters to distort it - either using pinch or the filter menu - the fucking thing's off-centre. Given I want to have a consistent, centred distortion, this presents a problem.

Only cludge I can think of to get around it (I'm in a hurry) is to fill the transparent area, forcing the bit I actually give a shit about, into the centre. This means I then need to clean up around after distorting, which is ... irksome

I can't even begin to get my head around whatever logic is underpinning this problem.

    These filters are Photoshop 101.

    Fuck Adobe.

    • is there something else on the layer you don't see and therefore the center is off?uan
    • No, that was the first thing I thought of. Weird thing is, if I change doc size, the offsetness of the centreing changes.Nairn
    • i blame a stray pixelhans_glib
    • fuck, it's true.uan
    • What do you mean, uan - you've replicated it at your end??
@hans - Nope, it can' tbe because of way rectangle was added, but I checked anyway. 'tis odd.
      Nairn
    • yes i tried with a rectangle, centered to the stage and filter-distort-spher... center it uses is not the center of the layer nor the doc...uan
    • !!!
What version are you on? (lol, I just checked - i'm still on 2014 on this machine - perhaps I should upgrade...)
      Thanks, uan.
      Nairn
    • version 2017.1.1.
you can select the content, expand the selection by some hundert pixels and then it works as you would think it should.
      uan
    • CMD + T
If the Transform bounding box is bigger than the rectangle you have on the canvas then you have a stray pixel or something on the layer.
      Centigrade
    • Are you on an artboard? A lot of filters get thrown off by artboards because the document is actually much bigger than the ab but you can't see its bounds.zarkonite
    • so it looks like you're centered on the ab but you're, for example, way on the left side of the entire doc.zarkonite
    • Thanks guys, but nup — this doc was as simple as simple could be — flat source cropped bitmap, added rectangle fill... pain in the arse glitch.Nairn
  • imbecile1

good morning illustrator, any particular reason that the rectangle tool and ellipse tool are no longer together? k thx bye

    • change workspace to essentials-should be there.lvl_13
    • Click ellipses on the left (...), hit the tiny icon on the top right of the next bit, change from "Advanced" to "Basic".

As I mentioned above 'Once its up, I'm out for alt ways cos this trend will never end with only one sub service.'

Yep, just received an email from Gsuite, 5 bucks to 6, 10 to 12. This trend will continue. Those little dollars add up to billions in unpaid tax revenue in offshore accounts. Nice going.

Interesting updates. At first glance it seems like they tried to improve on things rather than add a tonne of new functionality that no one asked for.

The door is wide open for a competitor to come in and steal some of the market share.

Sketch has already done it with interaction design.

    • good luck paying the patent fees.sted
    • there are competitors for most of them - it's the fact you get the whole suite of apps for peanuts that makes them hard to beat.fadein11
    • steed's right. the biggest barrier to competition are the patents.Gnash
    • Does Affinity use their patents?i_monk
    • not sure, but it's not just the software they have patents on, it UI as well.Gnash
    • ie., Adobe's got a patent on Tabbed Tool Palettes.Gnash
    • Patents expire... I think adobe was fighting macromedia about the tabs 20years ago... that patent is probably done now.monNom
    • Funny how Adobe have ripped off Sketch. I wonder if Adobe have patented producing bloated over priced software.Chimp
    • Ripped off Sketch?? He?sted
  • Bennn3

I still think Adobe should drop their price or at least equal the US price in Canada instead of keeping currency conversion, that would be a start.

And i still think they're laughing at us with a monthly payment for life... thats like 12,000$ for 20 years if they dont rise the price...

They're giving us shitty upgrades with useless new features and tools.
