- Taken directly from a poor quality bootleg. Seriously, some movies are just worth paying to go watch in a theatre.ArmandoEstrada

^ actually, clones were phased out by that point. in one scene finn says,
"I'm not Resistance. I'm not a hero. I'm a stormtrooper. Like all of them, I was taken from a family I'll never know. And raised to do one thing."
a clone fight woulda been cool, though
- Kylo Ren also taunted Hux about the quality of his troopers saying that "maybe we should use clone troopers"ETM
- kylo suggests to send out a clone army. the general insist on sending stormtroopers.caterpus
- aha, ok cool i thought he was referring to the storm troopers as being clones. my mistake!sarahfailin
- im assuming troopers are like marines compared to clonescaterpus
- There are no more active clones. The Empire was happy to exploit the population for conscripts. First order went further to take children and condition them.ETM

Just throwing this in there (don't shoot the messenger!):
Admit it: 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' stinks -- and here's why
Clickbaity title but worth a read:

it was ok. not as bad as i feared or as good as i had hoped.
to me the best thing about this episode was the characterisation of ren - a self-hating angry weakling - they always end up as bullies. yes the voice was silly, but again it made sense as he was trying to be something he couldn't deliver.
otherwise the film offered nothing new to the series - no new vision, or expanded story. it just seemed to be the first half of the handover to the next generation. next ep - what happened to luke and then dudes'n'daisy go off to repeat the other films
- "a self-hating angry weakling" - so EMO for short lol?fadein11
- not emo, just a passive-aggressive asshole.docpoz

Apparently Disney is going to release new movie every year?
- yep Rogue One this year - then EPVIII next year, then presumably another offshoot following year with EPIX year after - what a deal they got from Lucas.fadein11

Finally saw it. I really, really wanted to just enjoy this film but my mind wouldn't stop wandering. There were some very good parts that seemed to carry the spirit of what Lucas had originally created but unfortunately I have to agree with many of the complaints :(
A couple random of my own that I haven't seen mentioned:
first was this just some unused character asset from the prequel trilogy?
Seemed the most removed from the original SW universe.second, darth solo, or whatever his name was was too emo and felt like some CW interpretation of a star wars villain. And that horrible voice. Seriously movies need to stop it with this. Batman and Bane gave us our fill..
third, i felt too much of what seemed like ridley scott influence with grand supreme leader what'shisface. just didn't feel like star wars to me
static1.squarespace.com/static/5...finally, this entire scene here was just horrible and should have been edited out.
I know, it's silly to complain about a movie like star wars. if most people liked it i guess that's all that matters but i can't help wonder just how much better it could have been with better pacing, editing, and a bit more thought with the story and a few of the characters.
- yep what I thoughtfadein11
- anyone who use the word "emo" seems to just be parroting from other internet criticsinteliboy
- true, inteliboy, however I can't help the word came to mind several times during the movie anymore than any of the other critics could. fair point nonetheless.SteveJobs

- I was ok with Maz Kanata. Star wars always had dumb looking created. Agree on all other points. The villain was awful.CygnusZero4

How can these people and creatures all breathe on all these planets so easily? And the windows on the Millennium Falcon look thin.
So much oxygen in the universe?
- The difference between pulp sci-fi and hard sci-fi. There really is no science in SW. Most of the those ships would never fly in an atmosphere.ETM
- A Tie Fighter has no horizontal surfaces for any lift at all. An X-wing would likely just nose dive. But it's fun, and it's never claimed to be more than that.ETM
- Maybe the Falcon's windows are actually transparent aluminium :)ETM
- This is missing the point of Star Wars. Go watch The Martian. Then come back, when you get bored ;)jagara
- Please never consume anything sci-fi ever again.desmo

Saw ROTS with my kid (still hate it), but some random thoughts about prequel Yoda...
I hate how they shoehorn him into exile just to align with TESB. Instead of being on the Council, had they made Yoda strictly a teacher, academic and sage in the Jedi Temple, someone even the council goes to for advice, it may have been better IMO and more inline with the way he is portrayed in Empire.
It could have provided some interesting insight into Jedi training and the Temple, it would have kept his role as a wise master, but kept him outside combat roles and saved us from stupid ninja Yoda and would make far more sense for him to be more lost after the events and find himself hiding away on Dagobah.
Instead to make it work, we are forced to believe the leader of the Council and the Jedi loses one fight and decides to just give up and sneak away when there was still plenty to be done to seek out the few remaining Jedi etc.
- I'd say the worst aspect of the prequels is the way Lucas seems to choose what he sees as fan service over coherent plotting to link to the originals.Wolfboy
- Young yoda should have been tall - later on he's shrunk and wrinkled like an old master in a samurai movie.inteliboy
- Really we only saw him maybe a span of 20-40 years before Empire... in an 800 year life span. Which would only be a few years span extrapolated to humans.ETM

Saw it today, posted this to FB:
Alright... So I liked The Force Awakens quite a bit, but really want to watch 4,5,6 again to determine how infrequently the human characters injected obvious humor into the movie. C3PO was the primary comedic element that carried on through all the movies. Much of the humor between the human roles was dry, almost Kubrick like in the original movies. Then 1,2, and 3 took a giant crap on that aspect of the series. For that reason I didn't like some of the lines and actions by Finn. The mannerisms just seemed very unlike anything that would happen in a world like that.
Altogether I enjoyed it but was reminded how much I cringe when people clap and cheer during a movie.
- Like when he was all up in phasmas face saying" how you like that?!?!
Felt like a teen flick. oh wait, it is. lolsofakingback - Droid, please.freedom
- Finn was a little awkward and energetic considering he didn't even have a name and was a mindless soldier with a lifetime of training?freedom
- A New Hope was full of then current 70's era tropes from feathered hair to open collar shirts. Can't really fault for some modern day tropes.ETM
- And by that I mean Finn's more "current" method of addressing Phasma. But I admit, I initially cringed a little when he did it too.ETM
- Also is it just folks from the U.S. that cheer and clap in movies? I have never experienced that even on blockbuster movie opening nights.ETM
- Depends on the movie. I heard people clap/cheer last night at hateful 8. its not super common from what I've seen.sofakingback
- Although, I must confess. I cheered the M.Falcon!!!!! Don't hate me!!!!! my childhood falcon takes flight again!!! lolsofakingback
- i went to a pre-release of the original LOTR, the crowd was cosplayed out, orcs, elf nerds etc... there was clapping, crying, fetal positions, looking up at godprophetone
- Solo w/ Phasma: "...is there a garbage chute, a trash compactor?"... Finn: "yeah bro, it's so lit."prophetone
- you mean you didnt like when finn went all sister act on phasma? (why is this in a star wars movie??)CygnusZero4
- "yeah bro, it's so lit." Is that supposed to be a quote? Didn't he just say, "yeah there is" or something to that nature?ETM
- it's the more "current method of addressing the tweens nowadays i.e. "that death star is lit af..."prophetone
- Like when he was all up in phasmas face saying" how you like that?!?!
