Client sent me some photos from his phone.
"I like my face in the second photo, but my body in the first one and my wife's angle in the third. Can you combine those parts?"
There are four low res photos of them in different poses in front of a tree.
- low res photoshopping is easier. happy you.uan
- could be amusing - he's asking you to fuck it upFax_Benson
- Post it here, we'll do the photobombing for you.Maaku

Helped a client launch a publishing product they were putting out. Someone else designed it, but client needed materials and web help.
It took them 5 weeks to pay and they didn't even send me a copy.
Am I wrong to assume that if you help someone launch something they seem very proud of and it only costs $16 retail, they would send you a copy? I would.
- absolutely.lvl_13
- did you mention that you wanted a copy?ArchitectofFate
- A lot of clients don't even think about sending copies. it sometimes doesn't even cross their minds. Just ask them. I always do.VectorMasked
- In our contract we specify when dealing with print you will give us 25 copies of each pieceHayoth

now 2 wks later.
They said they'd sign, now 2 wks later...- NVM. 20 minutes later. Writing a letter n' walking away.bklyndroobeki

Still remember an "internship" I did in school where the company used to cancel my day frequently the morning of (right when I was about to leave home), they never gave me much to do when I actually went in and then would tell me how "busy" they were when I asked if they had any work coming up I might be able to help with.
Never got anything out of it and am embarrassed I lasted as long as I did.
I think they have gone out of business because their site hasn't updated in quite some time. We haven't spoken since.

Deliver $5k estimate to client. Client thinks everything looks good. Has question about $250.00 art budget (for stock photos, type, illustrations, etc). If I spend less than $250, will it come off the final invoice?
Client is dickering over a hypothetical portion of $250 on a $5k project.
Now I plan on spending $249 of the alloted $250, just so I can give the client $1 back.
- I usually charge stock extra_niko
- Do your clients feel surprised by that at all when you invoice?noneck
- same as Niko, here. I'll estimate it so that the client has an idea, but I only charge for what I spend.Gnash
- I don't see why you are so offended. If someone was doing work on your home and asked for a $250 hardware budget...ETM
- ... then only had to buy some screws wouldn't you want the balance back?ETM
- Oh fuck off with your reasonable explanations and analogies. Join me in unmitigated fury at the imagined ignorance of the people that pay our bills.noneck

Have a small client that I do basic color correction jobs for every once in a while.
They sent me their contract when I sent them a bill. I agreed to their terms and NDA wording.
Client writes back. "Good. We would expect you not to ever share our internal business with anyone."
I only do color correction and never met more than one person from the company. People are paranoid.
- so what's their internal business?drgs

I agreed to help out a client's cousin on a logo for her startup without know anything about it.
She emails me a low-res image and says "here's the concept I want, can you turn this image into a logo? it should take you like 15 minutes, right?"
- post the imageimbecile

Had a flat tire and called AAA for help changing it. They sent someone 15 minutes later and he was really nice.
I'll feel bad next time I tell a client a small job will take a week to do.

Was just contacted by someone who wants to launch a line of cosmetics for mostly lips and eyes.
They want to get started with a logo and packaging and site would come next.
Minutes later, they mention they are looking for a logo that will compete and have that look of brands like NARS, MAC... and their budget is about 2 hrs for the logo.
Srsly... is there like no people on this planet that is involved with skincare products that isn't cheap and so out of touch with reality?
- Maybe if you charge $2000/hr for those 2 hours you can find some time to fix it for free?freedom
- ^ actually make it $8000/hr.freedom
- Simple as, typeset it.bklyndroobeki

Small time client sent me a contract to sign, mostly defining me as an independent contractor and saying that I will not disclose company secrets.
I do very little work for them and the pay is modest and I made a comment on the phone during a convo that some of the wording seemed silly considering how little work I actually do for them.
Client snapped back that "the contract is there to protect me and I should know better". Honestly, it wouldn't bother me if I lost the client as they are not the easiest to deal with. Am I wrong and their contract is really to help me?

A guy I have known for a long time asks me to build him a website. So I hire a contractor who does all the work...project takes about a month to complete and probably 40 hours dev work so not huge.
Waiting for him to setup FTP. Waiting. Waiting.
Get an email today.
"Sorry mate...there's a girl I know who read about Spotify on the weekend. She's going to be doing all my Facebook & Twitter stuff, and she said she could set me up with Spotify as well."
Oh, you mean Shopify you daft cunt?
I reply "No problems...good luck mate. Here's my invoice for the full completed site. Good luck with your Spotify".
Haven't heard back as yet!
- Money up-front... any?PonyBoy

Potential client 20 mins late for call last week (our very first meeting).
Not an exciting talk about what he and his org are trying to accomplish. The subject is something I'd actually like to get away from but the work would be slightly challenging but easy (but not "fun"). We had a call scheduled for 2p today that he just cancelled because his offices are closed from the storm.I'd still find out a way to keep my promise on a call if it were me. IDK, high standards?
Getting that gut feeling that this will not work.
- You think he would cancel earlier, but things can happen. Have you discussed rates? If he's okay with your pricing and can pay on time, keep him.bainbridge
- That last sentence might be good advice bainbridge. Nope, no discussion of pricing but they are well funded.notype
- Maybe he's having a bad week. But if you want out, this is a good excuse. If you do have a meeting and aren't getting along, just pull the plug.bainbridge

Ture or false?:
"We Teach People How to Treat Us"Bad whiney clients, late payers, etc.
Does your attitude or the client's opinion of you change how they treat you?
- I believe that it's all about the energy you're putting out to receive a type of client (subsequently, payment early, on time or late). yes.bklyndroobeki
- I agree for the most part. Setting expectations and communication is mucho importante. Then you'll get some that are just dicks or run into financial trouble.Mattjanz3n

A couple 10x25ft signs.... "These quotes don't include design as there isn't much to design given that's it's mainly text and a contact telephone number on it."
- oh, so they aren't hiring a designer then!monospaced
- Huh?bainbridge
- Yeah, shitty context. We quoted some big outdoor mesh banners for a client with a small design time fee. They were comparing estimates without any design fees..Mattjanz3n

'This is unacceptable, you said you'd have this finished by today.'
...Yes. Isn't this what you were expecting?
'No, all you've sent me is the front cover. I expected to sign off on it today.'
...Let me check. Yes, I've sent you the whole document for review on basecamp.
'All I can see is a jpg of the cover, where's the rest of it?'
...It's a PDF. Download it to your PC and click next and back or scroll on your mouse.
'The pages are appearing now.'
...Fabulous.
With clients, it's best to presume nothing.
- You still find people this stupid?ETM
- It's not the ignorance that bothers me, it's the demanding shitty attitude.monoboy
- I had one client phone me up in a rage because a printer queried the 'dippy eye' on one of my images.monoboy
- Very rude.bainbridge
