Ok styleplus,
I get that you think we DO have power. But you are contradicting yourself in how to use that power. You suggest we should be more open, sharing information to expose injustice.Yet, you fail to come up with any actual evidence to support your claims. Only a few vague references about military and corporations working together to destroy the planet behind our backs.
YOU have the power and a captive audience. Do your part and tell us what the hell you're talking about.

@designboy
good info. Thanks for the diligence. I am actually very busy at the moment, and unable to do internet research for the insatiable 'tards in this thread. hopefully the stats that you provided will make things a little bit clearer for them.* I doubt it.
- styleplus0
@ joeth
you present a paradox when you request that I 'tell' you what I'm 'talking about'here's the deal:
if my statements in this thread do not make sense to you, then go to hell. I don't care.
you're right, joeth, I am doing my part.but it's not my part to drive into your head with a nail.
I'll make my statements.
Anyone who 'just can't understand' can go jump off a bridge.
I don't care.I don' have to prove anything to anyone.
If you really don't understand me, and my remarks really don't make sense to you, then take it like this:
my message is not for you.
calm down. go back to sleep.does everyone get it now?

I think all the hardcore environmentalists would do themselves much justice if they would just stick with a more pragmatic approach instead of spreading such irrational dogma...especially in the recent influx of fear mongering over global warming. I think most people can appreciate things like clean drinking water, nice places to camp/hike, and simply put a clean earth. But when you start telling me how I should live or trying to propagate some irrational fear in me, I stop listening.
I personally find it very interesting that huge proponents of Global Warming and other environmental issues, like Al Gore, are nothing but huge hypocrites (as seen in my earlier post). Makes me question the real motif.

@styleplus
I feel like you partially know what you're talking about. But by being so belligerent and so vague, you haven't convinced anyone of anything. I can only assume you heard someone else speak about this and now your trying to play it off like you're the expert, and we're all a bunch of 'tards' for not getting it.

I know where your coming from DB but the problem is that the people who have to make the decisions (government, business and communities) have reviewed the available evidence and decided that the potential impacts of climate change far outweigh any localised issues such as water pollution (although they are actually inextricably linked).
I would love for a person/organisation to step up to the plate with sufficient evidence to make a counter position on climate change plausible and workable.
luckily for most people they are not in the business of making long-term, strategic decisions that have major implications for society.....
p.s. I'm not a big fan of earth day but not for the same reasons as styleplus.
- Without a single human being living on earth, 96%+ of all CO2 emissions would still exist through natural sources.designbot
- I don't think the available information has given any ample evidence to make drastic changes. My fear is that the big proponents of Global Warmingdesignbot
- proponents of Global Warming are the ones with the loudest voices...giving it the appearance that this is what the general consensus is among the experts.designbot
- consensus is.designbot
- I keep reading stories of large groups of scientists opposing the idea Global Warming but stories like these never seem to get much attention.designbot
- the attention they deserve. So I am with you, there should be a counter position allowed to get the "air-time" so-to-speak.designbot
- It has been debated for 20 years. I don't think it is as one sided as you think. I think the issue has snowballed towards almost full consensuslowimpakt
- consensus. BUT I would love if it was wrong. i'd love if I was wrong so I actively try to find counter evidence..lowimpakt

- I created a thread with a link to a document with over 17,200 scientists who dispute global warming. The link in the original thread is broken now, but this article refers to it.designbot
- original thread is broken now, but this article refers to it.designbot
- there have been lots of petitions but I think the one you are referring to has been discredited as a dodgy petitionlowimpakt

It's good to question motives. But remember, nobody's perfect. I don't think Gore would spend as much time as he does on the GW cause if he didn't believe in it.
Besides, he has never been one to push sacrifice and minimalist living. His big thing is converting to renewable energy, which his family does purchase.

@joeth
LOL.
you speak on the behalf of 'anyone'? great. News to me.
I'm actually surprised that you say I'm being vague. Be it so.about your assumption:
I think it's clever, but inaccurate.hey, if you're really confused, take designbot's remarks and statistics and study them. That'll at least lead you on the right path.
- I'm just not so cynical to believe everyone is evil. I know because I interact with honest sustainably-focused people all the time.joeth
- Obviously corporations and governments need to clean up their act. That's the whole point.joeth
- We need to demand that from them, and demand transparency. We also need to be unified in our goals, which means we all do what we can.joeth
- ... do what we can.joeth

not to rekindle the flame, but designbot posted an interesting link that might be overlooked if I don't shed some light:

when he says "The link I have provided here will take you to a petition"..... where is the link?
Basically I want to check if it is the same as the oregon petition..
"n 2001, Scientific American reported:
“ Scientific American took a random sample of 30 of the 1,400 signatories claiming to hold a Ph.D. in a climate-related science. Of the 26 we were able to identify in various databases, 11 said they still agreed with the petition —- one was an active climate researcher, two others had relevant expertise, and eight signed based on an informal evaluation. Six said they would not sign the petition today, three did not remember any such petition, one had died, and five did not answer repeated messages. Crudely extrapolating, the petition supporters include a core of about 200 climate researchers – a respectable number, though rather a small fraction of the climatological community.[21]"

actually, we should be past "global warming" issue, as we already know its there, years ago.
what's imported is the solutions.

Enough of this nonsense. It's harlequino's birthday!

fuck earth day. there's a day for every ridiculous thing you can imagine now. isn't every day earth day or do we buy it flowers, oops we'd need earth to grow 'em and the harvest the fuckers. why can't we show the earth love...
- joeth0
Sorry for the late reply. Anyway...
@ styleplus
I think you are half right. We absolutely do need more transparency in business and government. We all know that. You have to do quite a bit of digging to find the truth, and most people don't have the time or desire to do that. Your problem is that your arrogance and cynicism have led you to believe that all people fall in either the 'evil-doing conspiracy' category or the 'brainless victim' category. You leave out the fact that most people generally try to be good, and that most people involved in green/sustainable organizations ARE fighting for the right kinds of change. One such person is Alex Steffen of Worldchanging.com.
Here are some links, which are partially in line with what you are saying...

I just got out of the gym and came home to a dark ass house. I came around the corner into the living room and my roomates where all sitting in the dark. I got the picture and went and grabbed some food that someone made. When I sat down my roomates asked me "What happen to hotwings!? I thought you were going to make hot wings?"
To which I replied "Bitch how I'ma do that shit in the fucking dark?!"
To which they replied ".......touche"
