I can agree with that... change needs to happen on a global scale and with big businesses...
But at the time being each individual if reached out to just planted one tree that does help.
I would hate to say to that person oh you don't matter because you only planted one tree....
- Plant a tree? while rain-forests are being raped daily? Planting a tree does help, but there are other actions that could help more.styleplus

each individual can only do so much.If change is really to be affected, the change must come from INDUSTRY.
why are there so many asphalt (petroleum by-product) roads and (petroleum-guzzling) automobiles in North America?
and not so many super-fast trains? like in Asia? and Europe?because North America has the facility (heavily armed goons) to reap (rape) the resources of the planet.
Sadly, the Iraqis being slaughtered right now can not do much about the environment ...neither can the Africans, nor the Chinese slaves.
The real keys to change rest in a strata above that of the common man.
in summary:
if you really want to see a change in the environment
-and you're not just a whiney bitch who cannot think;...then tell Exxon /Esso, Dutch Royal Shell Corporation, British Petroleum, Boeing, General Motors, Ford Motor Cars, Bechtel Corporation, the United Nations, et-fucking cetera.
...tell them. because a lot of people would gladly get into a train, rather than an aircraft -just to hop from NY to Philly.
... a lot of people.
- Individuals x individuals = public demand.
We're the ones with the power. It has to start somewhere.joeth

@stylepus
We have to be reminded once in a while that we have the power to stand up to these industries. One person changing their light bulbs doesn't help. And one person telling industries to clean up doesn't help. It takes organized efforts to get large amounts of people behind such things. That's where things like Earth Day/Hour come in.Doing nothing solves nothing.

people need to take action, and the rest will follow.

joeth: "Change has to come from everywhere... Individuals, industry, and government"
Couldn't have put it better!
- morilla0
it starts with the roots, then you work your way up.

@joeth
We do have the power.
That power is compromised and drained when the mass of people are hood-winked and suckered into settling for a counterfeit.Earth day is a prosthesis.
look at who sponsors Earth day and Earth day events.
you might find that It's the same motherfuckers who build massive weapons (which consume literal tons of petroleum-based fuels) to slaughter the masses of people.They then turn around and tell you to do your part.
yes, we have power.
That power is only effective when exercised appropriately
which includes exposing the REAL cause of the mess that we're in.- I never said we should blindly follow what corporations tell us to do. Transparency is one of the most important parts of sustainability.joeth
- ... of sustainability.joeth
- Hey look... we're having an intelligent conversation about how to make things better. Earth Day is working.joeth
- yes. it is working in that vein. If you spread this message of common sense, Earth day will work even more.styleplus

For Earth day i'm only smoking Jamaican sess.

@akrokdesign
"people need to take action, and the rest will follow. "I agree.
Though, I feel the appropriate action for people to take, is:
to expose the farse and to put and end to it.Not turning off your damned computer for an hour
...while Abrams tanks are being shipped to Iran (guzzling lots of petrol)

I hope you all see my eloquently crafted and well delivered point.
- iheartfun0
I do see your point.... but again for the average joe they cant just go up to some big company and say stop. Thats what Groups of people are for and organizations....
The average individual can do there part by shutting off power cause of little bit helps so please dont say it doesnt and dissuade them from doing it...
- styleplus0
@iheartfun
Did I ever say that it didnt? Did I?
find it, quote me and post it here.I'll paypal you $700 after you've done that.
I've stated quite the reverse. check your memory.
- iheartfun0
"Not turning off your damned computer for an hour"
No you did not say exactly that you ARE correct but It was more of an indirect statement...
- morilla0
I also really like how anti-abortion protesters and right-wing nut jobs showed up here in full force with graphic posters of decapitated fetuses and abortions.
Real classy you fuckers. I am sure all the children around really enjoyed that.
- styleplus0
ok, let's hide the dead humans from our young
...so that they may never know the ugly side of infanticide.Let's package slaughter nicely. In a white box with saran wrap.
anyone who brings out photos of what's really going on, well...
...well let's call them nut-jobs. and cry on behalf of the children.
- morilla0
It was " Earth Day " you jackass.

i got the bit about you worrying about carbon taxes because you are made of carbon and got lost from there..
- fyoucher10
Today I'll be conserving water -- shitting in toilets and not flushing.
Tomorrow I'm be saving trees by wiping my ass on the wall.
Thank you Earth.
