"the only requirements you need to meet are the user's..."

I just don't get how anyone invovled in this project would decide to make a 180 in everything the brand repersents image wide, with out even a brand update.
The site doesn't even cordinate with the logo itself anymore, I just don't understand what kinda idiots you guys got making the shots, but this is just unacceptable on many platforms.
The site is just so generic and boring it hurts, I personal would never shop on there again.

"jbeddoes have you had a meeting with the managers to fill them in one the concensus of Newstoday's award winning panel of critiquers?"
Hahhahah - totally missed that one....

The top nav doesn't have rollovers? Neither does the list of items after clicking into a section. Feeback to user = good.

i'm surprised people haven't realized that design by comittee does not work, ever. one good idea is better than a 1000 different shitty ones, especially if those ideas come from focus groups and what not.

The usability studies covered a wide range of scenarios including checkout flow and an entire reorg of the data and application structure. The previous design we had (done by Juxt) proved to be very confusing and difficult to navigate by our average demo. The majority of the time spent on this project was political persuasion. That's what comes when working with a $20 million site for a $1.3 billion company, everyone wants a piece. Frankly, I'm happy we were able to launch with 75% of the content from our original concepts.

I actually like it quite a bit. I agree on the nav though-being everywhere. From the main page the bottom nav is much heavier than the top, which is deceiving. As far as the "shopping experience" goes-i think it cuts to the chase. Everything is easily navigable and lays out quite a bit of product on one page. clean. I think the Photo treatment through each section is great too: clear, bright, happy bullshit fluff that makes me think "damn, if i just wear these clothes i'll get laid hourly."

now now - no need for that
- jevad0
Did you do personas and case studies?
- jevad0
Be interested to hear how many people order from the site rather than just using it to see whats in stock then heading down to the nearest shop to make sure it fits.
There is a pac sun in every mall here...

"if you hit them over the head with something crazy and different..."
That's not the point - the site doesn;t fail in my eyes because it isn't 'crazy and different'...it fails because I don;t think it's an effective design, and i don't think the user experience is that great either.
It hasn;t really been made clear throughout this thread exactly what the aim of the site is - do they want more online sales, or is it more of a tool to drive people to the stores?
None of my questions about user cases, personas, or usability studies were answered which leads me to believe they did a half-assed job of it.
