$20 million site? come on...
at my old job we had begun development on the entire quiksilver.com & roxy.com websites, and their budgets (combined!) weren't even anywhere close to that amount.
granted, they weren't going to be selling products on their site, only displaying them, but that's only a small addition in functionality.
not to mention the site was going to be a flash/html hybrid that was very well done and was using technologies very similar what you're doing on the pacsun site.

"i can honestly tell you the comments on this site will never reach management or executive ears at pacsun....but this thread can stay alive and be the epitomy of 'voices not heard'.

i didn't really read all the other posts, so sorry in advance.
why did they make the site blue when their logo and entire brand is black?!? two completely different styles.
this looks like the designers created the look and feel from their style, and not the style of their client.
has some nice functionality though.
kinda looks like they went in the direction of urban outfitters.

also. sorry again.
scene7 is really the way to go when dealing with buying clothing online.

check what they did for macys. click the image to view it larger. see how you can zoom in and keep the image quality. nice. we're working on it now for our stuff here.
you can take that photo, map it, then lay a texture over the top of it like if it were in denim and you can't tell the difference. it's amazing stuff.
for a clothing company as large as these guys why aren't they using it? or are they and im' just an idiot for not seeing it?

we're not suing anyone... just try a lil harder, thats we all ask.

jbeddoes have you had a meeting with the managers to fill them in one the concensus of Newstoday's award winning panel of critiquers?

Aren't they selling the Ashlee Simpson Starter Kit at Pac Sun now?
- mg330
jevad, it's kind of hard to "sell" an esophogus that looks like it's been dragged across a cheese grater.
Which is what you really need to be anywhere near similiar as her.
:D

i concur the site is easy to use and easy on the eyes. But for fuck sake who desided to forget about the brand image and put this up? Colors arent even close to what they should be and the style looks like it should be for a billabong kids label. I'm all for concept over style but to decide on neither is a shame. This site doesn't speak well for PS and doesn't speak to the consumer. Too bad you weren't still there Nac...probably would have at least had a fighting chance. I don't mean to dog you Jeff since I'm sure this had little to do with the design team and more to do with the powers that be...and that always fucks things up.
Cheers!

The only thing that represents the true pacsun on the page is the logo......
The type on your page right now New for Spring with the baby blue and the script font makess me think of Old Navy. PacSun should be edgy and maybe even go against the flow a bit... maybe full black .....
The pictures mixed with vector "whatevers" on the main pages for each category smell of "we didn't know what else to put their"
People know what you carry...... you aren't representing your demographic.... not for nothing but go to templatemonster.com and get yourself a better template...
here.....
http://www.templatemonster.com/w…or
http://www.templatemonster.com/w…20 mil and your aesthetics are completely weak. Why is it when people get studios like juxt to do stuff they never complete the revision rounds.
Question: Could you post Juxt's original piece?
Jev's right.....menus all over the place....etc... it looks like a 1996/7 site and a 1st year graphic design student...
$20 mil you could have squeezed out a much better interface...
There are people on NT that would do a visual design for the entire site for less then 15k.... and it destroy that.

OMFG that is fantastic!
Jump ye my minions!!!

truth be told, its a design for the common uneducated undesigner, the people who shop at these malls and buy their clothes at these type stores. if you hit them over the head with something crazy and different, you will scare a significant portion of people away, and ROI will be shot.
its marketing. and thats the way it works. you can't give a PacSun crowd an ATYPYK website.
it wouldn't work.
