For my sketch writing assignment this week, we had to write a genre spoof. Disney movies don't age well. So, in my version I flipped a classic fairytale retold in post "Weinstien Scandal" world, where the prince must ponder the prequisite considerations for conscentual touch on an unconcious princess before saving her life. I also wrote the entire thing in rhyme bc why not make it harder on myself.

I'm really looking forward to my table read this afternoon.

It's also weird that just after writing that i got a message from my own harrassing fuck. Spooky.

Get on the bus, sit down across the aisle from a middle-aged man. He has a stack of crumpled, identical postcards that I assume he hawks to tourists at the market.

He seems a little off, but I pay him no mind. Just seems like a weird old man. Ballcap, clean clothes, dad shorts.

He produces a quart of heavy cream and begins to chug it. Several stops later he's finished the whole thing. He starts waving his arms and it looks like he's shouting. I take off my headphones and he's.. shout-whispering to himself?

And this was not English. This was not a language that exists anywhere but in his own head. It was mostly coos and boops. And then I realize that there's a reason he can't sell those damn postcards.

(Do we have a Public Transit of the Day thread? That could take off.)

I enjoy writing and so maybe I'm a bit bias/snob but I just dont' get this whole fan fiction world/genre.

Its amazing that something has affected you deeply but why spend all that time and head space on someone elses idea? Isn't it more cool, socially beneficial to be inspired and create your own thing (not copying of cause!)

I am trying to write this reflective essay for uni and its completely fucking with me.

I just do not have answers.

its all about leadership and how I will use these new tools to improve my future, and usually I could just bullshit my way out of it, but this one I can't even get 1000 words out..

    need 2500

its fucked as its weighted 50% of my mark..

I have been trying to remain open minded about it, but the further I go into it, the more a crock of horseshit it becomes..

not to mention, its the last essay of the semester, so the sooner I finish the sooner I can chill for a few months, so the pressure to smash something out is high.

Identify what drives your practice / career – your own values, desires, potential and capacities in relationship to what you have learned about leadership

The last two days have been the highest of high and the lowest of low.

Monday evening I'm pretty sure our cat of 16 years had a stroke in the middle of the night. I stayed up with her and made her as comfortable as I could. That morning things just didn't seem to be improving with her and we had to put her to rest. By Tuesday afternoon I just felt emotionally drained and numb.

Then Wednesday morning we get a phone call that my wife's cousin, who had been missing for over a month had been located in California and was safe. I honestly thought she was gone forever and if she was ever found she'd be dead. We don't know all the details but holy fucking shit she was found.

    Planning to move to LA.

Trying to get rid of all this junk and down size all my belongings. All the while my stomach is in knots screaming "Don't do it! This is a mistake!"

Really heart wrenching, though the cold, hard logic of this being a positive move is tough to deny. I've lived in Indiana my whole life. I currently reside in a very shitty little town. So this is a massive improvement in terms of career opportunities, quality of life.

But fuck if uprooting your whole life and rebuilding your professional network from scratch isn't daunting.

tonight, after enjoying quite the rousing performance by openers, royal republic (better) and headliners, theory of a deadman, we were involved in an accident wherein we were not able to avoid a deer.

as it appeared from the left we attempted to brake avoiding a collision, however we were not successful, impacting the animal's hind quarter with the passenger side front corner.

this caused the deer to wrap around the passenger side of the car, its body crashing in the door, its head smashing the passenger window, causing it to shatter into the vehicle.

once the accident was over; a three point antler lay strewn across the dash (which the dog is now proudly gnawing on), my hair and lap covered in glass, her hands still clenched to the steering wheel staring forward in disbelief.

passenger door wouldn't open, front end leaking every fluid as I phoned 911. They were able to place my cell phone to a mile marker on the turnpike having an officer and tow truck to me in 30 minutes.

another 30 minutes later, the car was at the body shop and we were home safe with friends... at 3am
