Ugh. Ugh, ugh.
BE 1:0 CA, and VAR fucking sucks. That foul on Buchanan should have been a penalty.
- Canada had a great game IMO; couldn't finish AND yeah @ penalties...ideaist
- We were the better team, overall. Tight, focussed, and aggressive in the that first half, and BE just couldn't get it together, they were spooked.Continuity
- But Herdman was wrong not to start Larin. We really needed a finisher in that first half.Continuity
- “23 year old from Brampton, Ontario”; won’t hear THAT much, eh?
NOT an upset as we had hoped , BUT we'll see how things pan out.
: )ideaist - I'm relatively confident were can win against Morocco. It's Croatia I'm worried about.Continuity
- Croatia didn't look like the 2018 finalists. Modric is key but arguably fading, gave away lots of cheap free kicks, defending deep. They're fallible imho.MrT
- We'll see. Belgium were said to be fading, too, yet they managed a relatively creditable rally.Continuity

England 6:2 Iran
I'm happy Iran scored a couple, though. They needed that, considering everything that country is going through.
- Thanks for saying spoiler alert!canoe
- I had a quid on 4:1
guttedGardener - Bit of a tight penalty awarded at the end there. Is your bet ruined now Gardener?Ianbolton
- just this match, no Liverpool matches so what does a guy do?Gardener
- Dunno, I've seen a few Iranian posts on the SocMeds wishing England would trounce them, weirdly.Nairn

- It is incredible that with all our technology we still shit on potable water.
For the USA: potable means safe to drink.palimpsest - @palimpset, thanks for Eurosplainingcrazyprick

Fun fact : Last time Wales attended the world cup was in 1958 and the last goal scored against them was by a 17 y.o guy named Pele.

I'm really quite puzzled... they've spent so much (on bribes, on PSG, all this circus) to show us their team is basically rubbish and does not belong in a tournament like this, the amount of empty seats after half time was just ridiculous, and I'm talking about the host country here, the opening game
It's like paying billions to organize a beauty pageant just to show to the world your girl is the ugliest of them all
I know the Qatar players looked very nervous, I have a lot of sympathy for them, who knows how it might end for them? Let us hope they've been promised reward in case of success rather than a punishment in case of defeat, maybe neither, maybe both, but knowing how many lives were sacrificed in the name of having this circus is just.. I'm speechless
I like football, maybe even love it, it's always been there, both on playground and on TV, it's just a game people enjoy everywhere, but this one tournament... this one is quite fucked up
on one hand I hope Qatar team gets ten goals from the Dutch and maybe 8 from Senegal, on the other hand it's just football and I don't wish for any of their heads to literally roll
fucking weird mundialito, man
- It's almost like buying twitter ;)tank02
- almost :)rzu-rzu
- it's just an extension of what's been happening to the domestic game. Oil states, sovereign wealth funds and shady billionaires have been taking overFax_Benson

- England's recent form has been worrying.Chimp
- ^ Yup. And rooting for them won't change that but hey it's only a game. I don't really mind who wins as long as it's exciting.Hayzilla
- Let's have that conversation when it's England Vs Germany in a penalty shoot out ;)Chimp
- ^ LOL
Hope springs eternal on the British Isles.Continuity - maybe the ladies have diverted some of the pressure on which the men's inevitable meltdown performance in the QF always gets blamed.MrT

I re-watched the second half today and I gotta say...the ref had a fantastic game. So much weighing on his calls and he got all the big ones right imo.

Well, good. FRA v ARG in the finals.
But, wow. Morocoo really, really wanted to win this, but they just couldn't finish. They were giving FR serious problems for most of the second half
.- I'm surprised how they shut france down.Beeswax
- I'm kind of not, actually. Their game was really good, and the created to lovely chances.Continuity
- *they created some lovely chances, that isContinuity
- And they played really well throughout the tournament, too.Continuity

France are playing like champs, for sure, but Morocco aren't rolling over, either.
This is going to be tense.

I don't hate Ronaldo, in many ways he's the Tom Cruise of Football, handsome, extremely driven and sometimes insufferable but not a douchebag, he has ethics.
It's been easy beating on him lately but he is a great player who will later down the line get joys through coaching Portugal that will be far and few until then.
Morocco's goal keeper killed it, well done to that team for an historical win!
Now praying France doesn't shit the bed !!!
- I'm happy he's gone. Insufferable cunt.Continuity
