key quote:
"Avery explains that for his nearly 180 posts he has generated a whopping 14,000 images out of Midjourney.
“I’m generating roughly 85 images to come up with one usable image and canceling probably at least that many failed starts,” he says."
Weird kids and their emulation games
- its kinda insane this is still going on with MJ, i haven't used txt2img in SD for months. Fools game to try and hone an image with promptskingsteven
- 10 years time you'll sketch out something very very loosely on a tablet, then AI will draw it, and with some gestures you'll edit what you see. then animate itshapesalad
- takes like 10 seconds to doodle the composition you want and run it through img2img, a lot of folks not even using models with CLIP any more.kingsteven
- saying that, i'm doing a lot of animation so i'm probably at 14,000 images in the last fortnight lolkingsteven
- shape, i'm doing that now hahahkingsteven
- well glitchy as fuck using an archaic combination of invoke-ai canvas, blender and hybrid video in deforum. but its not far offkingsteven

- Old photography rule of thumb let's say u get 1 usable image per role of 36 exposures... professionals usually get more but lets say he he averaged 1...jonny_quest_lives
- Had he just photographed subjects he would have had 777 usable images for 14000 exposures... for 388 roles of filmjonny_quest_lives
- Digital photography changes that math dramatically but 185 usable images out of 14000 attempts is bizarre for just an "emulation" and insta clout.jonny_quest_lives

- It seems like he is addicted to AI and enjoys the feeling of creating something without actually putting in the effort. Addiction is experience without truth.SlashPeckham

My enthusiasm in the beginning has faded a bit. For some reason I never get clean and precise results no matter what prompts I put in.
Every time I try to get some character or animal I always get some distorted piece of shit result. Often something like a siamese thing with two eyeballs fit in one eyesocket.
I put in prompts like "photo real, ultra realistic, high detail" etc etc. I even use the prompts generator but I get crappy shit anyway.
It's kinda frustrating to see all these high-fidelity results by other people and I get crap results no matter what I do.
- Creating variations improves the result, to me that's when the good stuff comes up.spl33nidoru
- Shit In > Shit Out.Nairn
- I try variations but all I get is basically very identical looking images. And I mean pretty much 95%-98% identical. So often variations are just useless.NBQ00
- I really don't get what y'all's doing.palimpsest
- you need to use the language that is used in the associated text when presenting images. like writing clickbait for what you want to seekingsteven
- I still haven't had problems talking with AI, maybe that is a problem I should look into.palimpsest

- oh dear... the unemotional unbias computer has shown you reality. I'm all for equality, but if women want to be leaders, I want the same maternity leave rights.shapesalad
- I want a year off and reduced hours on return. Full paid.shapesalad
- would you ever just shut the fuck up shapekingsteven
- Wa wa wah wah washapesalad
- you can have the same time when you can perform the same birth. If you don't give the birth, you don't have the worth.imbecile
- My company gives the same time to all types of parents, including those that don’t give birth in any sense. Except for disability from birthing.monospaced
- so the OLD ai (which is less than 5 years old) only generated images of old white men? lol, what a crock of shit.hotroddy
- generated with images of women made for old white men. trying to coax good photos of women that aren't glamour shots out of it is much more difficult than menkingsteven
- of course it doesn't need the whole righteous marketing. just like these side notes don't need shoe-horned with maternity leave discussionkingsteven
- 'they say ai is pushing mankind forward. but what about womankind?' - weakhotroddy
- i think I understand your point. the few times I've used the ai it's been ethnically diverse.hotroddy
- I didn't know, however that the ai had misogynistic tendencies. it's only a matter of time before there is an ai for all 15 genders and counting.hotroddy
- i mean it goes the other way to a degree, if you ask for a portrait of a man, then get too descriptive about his clothing, it'll give him tits. it's a funnykingsteven
- commentary on the kind of images we consume, because its not really something thats considered in LAION. but it's a point worth making. just don't get triggeredkingsteven
- less headaches with negative prompting and LoRA with SD but it is still much harder with the bias inherited from the training datakingsteven
- wouldn't it be better to code one that incorporates diversity instead of branching off into little pockets of software?hotroddy
- if i was commissioned to generate 10k pictures of 'strong women' i would start by building something similar. its just a way of getting more reliable resultskingsteven
- for a subject matter, erase the concept of men so that the AI doesn't fuck up as much deciding what it is drawing. fairly standard these days.kingsteven
- Sounds reasonable enough. One less thing to be triggered about. Thanks!hotroddy
