- Mountbatten on his wee boat going over to rape children at the Kincora Boy's home? He had a very special relationship with Charles, a bit like Saville did.PhanLo

"In a monarchy, a king or queen is Head of State. The British Monarchy is known as a constitutional monarchy. This means that, while The Sovereign is Head of State, the ability to make and pass legislation resides with an elected Parliament.
Although The Sovereign no longer has a political or executive role, he or she continues to play an important part in the life of the nation.
As Head of State, The Monarch undertakes constitutional and representational duties which have developed over one thousand years of history. In addition to these State duties, The Monarch has a less formal role as 'Head of Nation'. The Sovereign acts as a focus for national identity, unity and pride; gives a sense of stability and continuity; officially recognises success and excellence; and supports the ideal of voluntary service.
In all these roles The Sovereign is supported by members of their immediate family."
So what does "The Monarchy" look like post Elizabeth?
Does a King Charles or King William elicit the same "focus of national identity, unity and pride" that Elizabeth has provided since WWII?It just seems Tabloids and media in Britain have done enough to destroy the mythmaking and stagecraft needed to present Charles and his children in any sort of good light and to suddenly be steadfast defenders of the crown is an interesting pivot to say the least.

"Not so long ago, Britain was the envy of the world. It had the world’s best healthcare system. You could walk down the street, go to the doctor, and literally have the world’s best healthcare on your doorstep. It had the world’s finest public broadcaster — the BBC. The middle class was expanding, growing in wealth and happiness. It was part of the world’s most successful political union, the EU — and Brits had the right to live and work across Europe, something that many Americans would kill for. Britain, too, had a special relationship, as it came to be called, with America — cousins in whiteness, in Anglo-ness, friends and allies and partners. Britain had one of the world’s highest qualities of life, period. It was a gentle, intelligent, warm, friendly, and wealthy society.
That was just...a decade or two ago. And now? Britain is a failing state. Don’t take it from me, take it from former Prime Minister Gordon Brown. It’s a nation that imploded into stupidity, ugliness, hate, brutality, ignorance, greed, racism — all of which were on vivid display as Meghan Markle recounted how badly she’d been treated.
So what happened to Britain? Nationalism did — it’s selfishness, arrogance, triumphalism. It’s bigotry, prejudice, and racism, too. Britain stopped wanting to be part of the modern world, an equal, a partner, a friend. It wanted to rule the world again. And so now...it isn’t part of the modern world, and it has no one left to rule, either."
- Powerful article, is this any true? I mean nationalism is more prevalent worldwide for that matter, not exclusive to the UK, but the rest of it?grafician

I don’t really give a fuck about the royals but I mean this is what the monarchy is all about isn’t it? I mean by definition? They’re better than you and I and everyone else? Racist, classist, and every other ist?
That’s their thing, I mean they even keep it in the family traditionally, so not sure what the hullabaloo’s all about, I mean is anyone really surprised or shocked by any of this?

"Silencing Black Lives Matter: Priti Patel’s anti-protest law"
https://www.politics.co.uk/comme…
"The government seems intent on raising the maximum penalty for criminal damage of a memorial from three months to an astonishing and completely disproportionate ten years. A memorial is defined extremely broadly indeed, as “a building or other structure, or any other thing” which has “a commemorative purpose”.
And then Patel does something really quite extraordinary, which should not be possible in a properly-functioning liberal democracy. She gives herself the power to fundamentally change the meaning of the law at any time without any real parliamentary scrutiny.
The 86 Act hinges on the phrase “serious disruption”. It’s police suspicion of that eventuality which authorises the powers they have over protestors. But the new legislation allows the secretary of state to “make provision about the meaning” of the phrase. She can do this using something called statutory instruments."

The 'Brexit festival' announcements have been hilarious on social media. A ton of my lefty mates posting about how retarded it is and on the other side the artsy shills tooting their involvement. I knew a few people working on pitches, it seems they've combined a few of the NI pitches together and badged it as the 'Nerve Center' pitch (a cultural centre in Derry) obviously trying to avoid 'Brexit festival' backlash. On top of it all, the headline act is old friend of mine that's done very well in the last few years but has lost it and been full on spouting mad QAnon shit on Facebook all lockdown.
Yes, I am really looking forward to the Brexit festival.
