Trump just slapped a 50% tariff on Lesotho—a country where the average person lives on less than $5 a day. Why? Because we import a few hundred million in diamonds and textiles from them, and they’re too poor to buy anything back. That’s it.

We’re hammering one of the poorest nations on Earth like they’re China. You think Lesotho is the reason we lost steel jobs in Ohio? Be serious. This isn’t strategy—it’s punching down for applause from people who can’t find Lesotho on a map.

    • I don't think anyone has a clue what's going on. I buy shit from Walmart all the time, they buy nothing from me, is that a defect? probably, is that a bad thing_niko
    • of course not. When the US buys natural resources from countries rich in them, they turn those resources into products and sell them to the rest of the world at_niko
    • a huge profit. So why punish Lesotho for not buying back equal amounts of shit?
      Retarded.

    • LOL What?grafician
    • I know about AI because I work with people in AI

I barely use any of the models for myself

Not my fault you guys barely know what's going on under your noses

    • Anyway @canoe you not knowing much about fonts, clearly shows a lack of skill

Maybe you should brush up your design books or whatevr

I guess the most recent "golden age" of the US might be post-WWII boom, around the 1950's; America emerged as a global superpower, with massive industrial growth, suburban expansion, strong middle class.

A high school diploma could get you a house, a car, and support a family. College was affordable and often free in public institutions. There was a big government investment in infrastructure, education, and science (think: highways, NASA, public schools). There was more trust in institutions, and America was a manufacturing powerhouse.

Today, dual-income households still struggle to afford basics like housing, childcare, and healthcare, sadly.

    • I don't care how big anyones ego can get, it's just stupid to argue that the United States didn't have a golden age...canoe
    • I'd even argue that pre-tech-bubble-burs... and during Clinton, America was feeling very golden.canoe

    @graf

Just another day for you - spiraling between insecure sarcasm, shaky historical claims, and what amounts to a tantrum disguised as a roast.

You keep asking for proof of America’s golden age like Google’s blocked in your timezone. We literally had a multi-decade stretch of booming industry, tech dominance, middle-class expansion, global cultural export, and innovation from the microchip to moon landings. But sure — act confused so you can keep playing the smartest guy at QBN, the designer's forum that you haven’t contributed actual work to, Mr Buttons.

You wanna lecture us about fonts? Graf, you’ve been on QBN since 2011 and still haven’t posted a single piece of real design — but suddenly you’re the final boss of typography? No one’s begging you for font help, Mr Bitters, and you easily confuse font identification with actual creativity, concepts, composition and design all of which you apparently lack or you would've posted work here.

And yeah, the Web was invented by a Brit — congrats. So were teabags. America still built the platforms you're whining on daily, in English, using American software, on American hardware, complaining about American elections like you have voting rights. You hate the U.S. so much, but you orbit it like it’s your sun. You blame all Americans for Donald Trump because your critical thinking is critically low.

You're not the scourge of QBN. You’re the mascot for empty flexing and intellectual cosplay. Either post work or log off, we’ve got fonts covered "bro".

    • He's also the arbiter of what constitutes "good" photography, too, it bears remembering. Apparently.

It must be so frustrating as a graphic design fan boy to run into successful designers who don't know every font published.

Knowing every font and never designing is like being a librarian who’s never read a book — technically impressive, functionally useless. Like memorizing every guitar chord and never writing a single song.

I’ve worked with national brands and global agencies while you’re over here acting like a glorified font sommelier... swirling around typefaces without the design to back it up.

    It's UNREAL.

This is like the third time you've mentioned the What the Font thing, I hope you get it – your opinion of me and anyone who doesn't know all the fonts in the world is completely irrelevant to being a successful designer.

I've got new music coming out, can imagine how stupid it would sound if someone dogged me for not knowing how to play the french fucking horn or bassoon. Even if they did, I got music signed, and they don't, so there's really no argument to have anymore.

So, nice try, and please stop trying.

    • < @graficiancanoe
    • *facepalm*grafician
    • I do not care about your career man, good for you for boasting LOL

I just tried to help you find some fonts man...
      grafician
    • I feel that facepalm, anyone who judges the worthiness of a designer based on their font identification is not a designer, they're a cynical, jealous, fan boy.canoe
    • But ANOTHER wall of text?

      Bro...

      ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
      grafician
    • Judges is strong word, just pointing out obvious things man

      Do better
      grafician
    • Good luck with the music too, maybe that will work out just great for you and keep you focusing on something else than me and this forumgrafician
    • Clearly I hurt your feelings, maybe think about that a bit too, arguing online is pretty useless...grafician
    • You helped me ID a font that was I used in an old project and then you held it against me and judged me. This is a reminder to you that I'm the real deal.canoe
    • You're a catfishcanoe
    • You can keep posting this crap, I have other stuff to dografician
    • "you cringe ass font ignorant dork" feels pretty judgy to me. You'll never take responsibility for the shit you say because you're always in fake mode. Catfish.canoe
    • No, that was actually a pretty accurate IMAGE I have about you.

Maybe the REAL you outside QBN is beautiful
      grafician
    • So maybe STOP projecting and being insecure with the boasting about careers to make a point

      *facepalm* AGAIN
      grafician
    • You called me a font-ignorant dork and now you’re pretending you’re the victim of projection? That’s rich.canoe
    • I pointed out that doing actual design for real clients means more than memorizing type catalogs like a trivia night host.canoe
    • You don’t sound like someone defending a point — you sound like someone scrambling to save face after realizing being a font snob doesn’t make you a designer.canoe
    • Don't you understand basic language?
YES I called you that because thay is MY opinion of you.

Just like you project a lot of bullshit about me.

      Fair? :)
      grafician
    • Being a "font snob" is not a thing. You projected that.

I consider a designer a person with basic typography skills and I am surprised you don't seem to have
      grafician
    • any, not to mention recognising typefaces by their look.

I consider normal a good designer that recognizes typefaces

      ¯\(°_o)/¯
      grafician
    • So when YOU fail to do that, I QUESTION your design abilities.

      Fair? :)
      grafician
    • Also after 20 years of design, my clients list is longer than yours :)

But I will wait for your music to come out. Maybe that is good stuff

So about America's "golden age" a simple grok ask is pretty clear

    ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯

    • But we will check back in 4 years to see what's leftgrafician
    • Next time just ask the AI first, save yourself the tantrum.canoe
    • What tantrum? The one that you threw when I said there was no golden age?

< this basically says there was no golden age, it's written right there
      grafician
    • People ARGUE or they have CANDIDATES but there is no true "golden age"

      Deal with it.
      grafician
  • grafician-3

now to clarify the eggs situation with more facts

again with a simple grok ask

    • So yes, even if the US is the greatest country on Earth as the inhabitants claim, they are still importing basic goods...like eggs!

      Because eggs are wonderful
      grafician
    • That's right. You were wrong. We import and produce the same commodity. It's not news, it's called global trade.canoe
    • But please as a Romanian tell us more about your insight into America to us Americans.canoe
    • Again, all of this combined is less than 1% of domestic production. It’s so small it’s funny.monospaced
    • The USA EXPORTS 4 BILLION eggs a year. How about them facts? Need clarification you fucking dunce?monospaced
    • Cano man I just posted to let monospaced know the US actually imports eggs. It was a BASIC FACT.

THEN YOU TURNED IT A FULL BLOWN "DRAMA" :))))
      grafician
    • Your facts failed to make the point you were after though. It’s so silly watching you this triggered. Grow up.monospaced
    • My point was YOU didn't knew US IMPORTS EGGS.

      Now YOU know! :)
      grafician
    • But aparently you live in the US the country that rejects facts for no reason :))

      ¯\(°_o)/¯
      grafician
    • No, your point was to show America is fucked and used eggs as an example. It failed. Own it.monospaced
    • That maybe what you thought :)))

I specifically posted YOUR comment then THE FACTS here again take a look:
      https://www.qbn.com/…
      grafician
    • So don't get it twisted mono

But at least now you know more about the US egg trade
      grafician
    • No, I knew this already, that’s why I called out your bullshit about how we need help from shithole countries like Romania or Turkey. We don’t.monospaced
    • So we imported 0.17% of our eggs during a 3 month lulls and you act like it’s godfamn disaster relieve like a fucking retard. Own it.monospaced
    • You obviously didn’t know the producing power of the US in that context and clearly got schooled into utter embarrassment. Own it. Fucking juniormonospaced
  • monospaced0

In 2024, the United States exported approximately 172.8 million dozen eggs, encompassing both table eggs and egg products (measured in shell egg equivalents). This represents a 4.5% decrease from the previous year.

That’s more than we imported. Weird.

  • monospaced1

In 2024, the United States produced approximately 109 billion eggs. During the same year, the U.S. imported around 15 million dozen eggs (equivalent to 180 million eggs) and exported approximately 344 million dozen eggs (equivalent to 4.13 billion eggs).

This indicates that imported eggs accounted for approximately 0.17% of the total eggs consumed in the U.S. in 2024.

    • So let’s call me names and insult my knowledge and then flex about some insignificant imports again. It’s funny watching you corner yourself into this stupiditymonospaced
    • Or are you going to keep comparing a 150 million to 450 billion?monospaced
    • holy fucking shit. you're actually right here and now, on the internet, arguing about eggs.face_melter
    • lol, is this an argument anymore?monospaced
    • it's not about eggs, it's about grafician spreading lie after lie after shit talking lie about our country. He's like a shit machine.canoe

Still have time to learn more about the US everyday
      grafician
    • The flat earth thing is tied in with people who take the bible as gospel. So 10% isn't that unbelievable for Americans.PhanLo
    • Yep, unfortunately.

Yet, I am still to find a person met in Europe that thinks the Earth is flat, including really religious types.
      grafician
    • Most Americans haven’t met anyone who believes the earth is flat either. It’s a bigger nation than you seem to think it is.monospaced

That above story is super scary.

My wife has a habit of giving the border guards a bit of attitude when she comes in off a long flight and i'm super worried she's gonna get thrown in jail. She has a greencard in the system that hasn't been cancelled and they always ask about it, and it pisses her off.

I fucking hate that this is what America is coming to. I always loved the idea that everyone was welcome and you could come here and be accepted.

Now it feels like a fucking Reddit board.

    • Every time I go to the US (San Diego), I give the guards the shaka and I get a “have a nice one, man”. Spanish passport. Never had any trouble.maquito
