Anyone watching Alien Earth?
I'm finding it baffling in terms of how bad it is, then amazing in the next moment, then dogshit in the next... Like this fight between an Alien in ep 3 was just so so so clunky n awkward. And even the small things... like why try be clever with the music.... Just go all out Jerry Goldsmith and Vangelis.... the metal dad rock shit isn't working as much as I love Tool... With a VHS filter, it's not far off from being a throwaway shitty 90s TV show....
Yet loving the world and concepts. Alien is a bit like Star Wars in that way... even when it's bad I still watch for some reason.

My take, I know you care deeply:
Alien: the Original. Chef's kiss.
Aliens: Great classic action flick. Amazing atmosphere.
Alien 3: The disliked, but underrated one IMO.
Alien Resurrection: I still very much dig it. It adds a dash of Fifth Element vibes in the mix, that I personally find works very well, but most people disagree. Especially that Ripley/Alien hybrid element is fun.
I actually liked Prometheus, although I know it has problems.
From there on, for me personally: meh after meh. It's always the same.

I’m pissed. I hated EP3. It ended with RATM or some shit, like when Neo just flies off at the end of Matrix Reloaded. Total tonal whiplash. They’ve failed Alien in its honor. The franchise deserves better than this, not some Marvel-style crossover junk.
And honestly, I’ll take the ridiculous swimming alien from Resurrection over this mess. At least the shit still felt like Alien.

It's all very man in a suit...apart from when it's CGI "fight" scenes... which is is a shame.
Plus, it's really not very well written (so many supposedly "smart" characters making incredibly stupid choices in almost every episode).. and in the recent episode... fuck me there was some massive clunky coincidences shoe-horned in to keep the story going...
Still... it's kinda crap but semi enjoyable popcorn TV.. maybe because its on Disney it's now aimed at children that don't care about stuff like this.
