- Well saidNBQ00
- The fucking IRONY of Gary Neville kicking off about another turn in the game dividing the rich clubs from the rest, while holding a Sky Sports mic...Luda
- That was weird, but I thought he nailed it. Really got to the heart of why football exists in the first place.Ianbolton
- Not a fan of Sky but being a pundit on Sky Sports isn’t comparable to this ESL crap.NBQ00
- It is comparable as, when Sky took TV coverage of the PL, they had power to change kick-off times and funnel more £££ into the big clubs. This is the next step.Luda
- Neville benefitted massively from being at Man Utd during Sky's reign. I know it's not his fault and he didn't cause it...Luda
- ...but a rant on SKY SPORTS about more money driving a wedge between certain clubs is highly ironic.Luda
- 'BT Sport'? So that's why my phone bill keeps going up, when I barely use eeh fucking thing?Nairn
- On the plus side, could this be the kick up the arse plebs in the UK need to finally get off their overweight backsides and revolt?
No, of course not.Nairn - What is a Bottle Merchant?Chimp

Jose Mourinho sacked by Tottenham. He complained to the board of the club last night about joining the super league and 24hrs later he’s sacked.
- respect for jose! did the right thing!renderedred
- Has he ever championed grassroots football though? The ESL seems like something he'd love to be part ofIanbolton
- are you sure that's why he was sacked? ESL must be bad if it's making Mourinho look good.Fax_Benson
- he came from grassroots football, was a player in 2nd or 3rd league in portugal.renderedred
- Fax, they probably intended to sack him anyway. But now that Tottenham doesn’t have to qualify for the ESL why would they sack him otherwise?NBQ00
- Ren, i've never seen him champion youth team player development like so many other teams are doing. I don't understand his beef with Ali and Bale eitherIanbolton
- you're right ian, he is not your typical coach that's for surerenderedred
- This a distraction for Spurs supporters orquestrated by Levyoey_oey

Only someone who truly hates football can be behind a European super league
- NBQ003
Most of these clubs who are forming the ESL are owned by Billionaires who don’t give a crap about tradition, real competition and fans.
And clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid are deeply indebted and on the brink of bankruptcy. Which forces them to do this.
It’s all about money. And these clubs spending endlessly with poor management now have an easy way out of this financial mess.
At least in the beginning. Because JP Morgan will be throwing lots of $$ at them. Then the fans, sponsors and broadcasters need to decide if they really want this. I hope it will be boycotted.
Hopefully more players and managers will come forward to boycott this if they have the means even if it would mean them to resign.
- they should all ask bayern how to run their business ;)renderedred

- There you have it, it's called capitalism, look it upgrafician
- Fuck the peasants, we want more money and control. Something, something, football.Chimp
- I so hope every fan will boycott this and nobody watches it. So it collapses immediately. Fuck them.NBQ00
- Football is a social control mechanism. Sadly it's a big part of the life of grown adult men so I doubt it will go anywhere.PhanLo
- superleague : make football great again.neverscared
- that’s “Make $occer Great Again” for you :)NBQ00
- To be fair, as a board member that IS your job. It's not a fucking charity. Also, I hate football.Morning_star
- You should be an investor then, Morning Star. You could help destroy the sport you hate.NBQ00
- Does this really surprise anyone?
Also, the people who make Charmin don’t really care about your ass.futurefood - Apples & Oranges. This would destroy the football system (domestic leagues, championships, etc) in Europe as we know it.NBQ00
- no really?utopian
- whaaat? nooo!Projectile
- Lol @PhanLo — been waiting to drop that wannabe-Chomsky chestnut on the unenlightened servile populace? When will the peasants learn, eh!NonEntity

- so they want to make it into an American style league lolgrafician
- Fucking cunts. Do they not understand when it happens every other day or every week it has no magic?NBQ00
- Will fail. Thank you, nextnb
- So they're much further down the road with setting this up than just having a consultation meeting. It's bollocksIanbolton
- Of course. This is already confirmed. They want to fully proceed as soon as the new season.NBQ00
- Hayzilla1
Shocking shit. I just have to believe it won't happen. It can't.
- NBQ006
Here’s the full video. So these owners really don’t give a shit and apparently secretly wish that their clubs get banned from their domestic leagues as well as their players banned from World Cup.
- So the Americans invaded European Football and are destroying it.NBQ00
- it will be called american football soon :)renderedred

- That would make the German national team very happy.Continuity

- I love how the German teams have all said 'nah, we're good' to this whole thingIanbolton
- @renderedred Well, until now, it's been widely assumed Hansi Flick would take over, now that he's fucked FC Bayern off.Continuity
- But now, with this shitty super league and Klopp not being a fan, who knows.Continuity
- @Ianbolton Honestly, I'm actually a bit surprised. I would have imagined RB Leipzig would have been first in line to join, but apparently not.Continuity
- i have nothing but respect for german clubs for saying no.renderedred
- Would I be wrong in assuming that German clubs might still be more 'locally-owned'? Or is it simply a matter certain clubs being popular in Asia/America?Nairn
- Yeah the reason Germans not in is mostly because of the 51% rule that can’t allow Billionaire investors being majority shareholders.NBQ00
- All the 12 clubs taking part in the ESL are either owned by Billionaire investors or deeply indebted.NBQ00
- AFAIK the ESL clubs are promised $350 million per year regardless of performance. WTF. Easy to see why they want this.NBQ00
- @Nairn, for the most part yes. Notable exception is RB Leipzig, which is 99% owned by Red Bull, and was a stink all on its own.Continuity
- Also, Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg, but they're ancient clubs, and RB Leipzig was especially egregious.Continuity
- Thanks, both. Well, there's the problem right there. This country's like fucking USA-lite, but without any of the punching weight.Nairn
- Unfortunately it was just a rumor. He doesn't seem as critical about it as few years ago.NBQ00
- _niko10
A player revolt would be awesome, all the best players join smaller sides and leave the big 12 clubs holding their dicks, or each others dicks, greedy clueless fucks.
- Krassy8
Reddit mobs need to get involved (similar to the GameStop stock powermove)

Gary Neville will go live again in about 100 minutes. Let’s see if he says “Bottle Merchants” again.

Love this...
The 50+1 rule guards against this. In short, it means that clubs – and, by extension, the fans - hold a majority of their own voting rights. Under German Football League [DFL] rules, football clubs will not be allowed to play in the Bundesliga if commercial investors have more than a 49 percent stake.
