Avenir

I have Avenir but because it's in my system...
- ...damn it!mnk_b
- Lato is close enough.utopian
- Lato is also nice. I would like to use it for my website as well but though I prfer the lowercase g like in Lato...mnk_b
- ...I think the g of Avenir works better for the web.mnk_b
- was thinking to use Lato with Abril Fatface for the website and Lato with Georgia or Merryweather for the CD.mnk_b

That is pretty close to something I did a while ago...

;)
I used Euclid
- Haha! Fuck! I also had the dot closer by and I'm also using black and white and a circle in my branding...I like yours.oey
- Fax_Benson0
maybe needs more vertical space?
- imbecile2
3 type treatments in a logo? i'd have to say no.
the words graphic arts are superfluous.
maybe even miguel calvete is unnecessary.
is the top most dot slash half circle supposed to represent MC?
if so, might want to tighten that up, looks more like AC to me.
if you are happy with the logo mark, just use that. (possibly cut a line through the half circle matching the angle of the slash to tie the two together)
if you feel you need type in the logo, use only miguel calvete;
make the letters smaller, open up the tracking, then move them away from the mark.- I feel you. Will reply properly later. I'm at a record selling market :-)oey

It's perfectly fine to have a logo mark and logotype lockup.
I like your Avenir version the best - my only advice would be to make "Graphic Arts" all capitals. Using caps and capital case together looks awkward, keeping it all caps keeps uniformity and balance, there is already a hierarchy with size and weight of font.
I disagree with imbecile that Graphic Arts is "superfluous" - it's not. It tells people what you do/what you are about. Unless you are a celebrity, and everybody knows your name and what you do, it's good to let people know what you do!

@ imbecile
Yes I'm happy, but maybe I would move the first circle more inside (to the right)
Actually after working around a MC I ended trying to focus in a M and then I landed in a slashing angle as you suggested but it doesn't work for me...i Like how it looks but the C is gone.I know that with the A.
But the logo is not three dimensional so...I find both my name and what kind of services ncecessary.
I understand that it't too much type in one logo but it's actually only two though one is in caps. You're last suggestion is one of my thoughts actually.
I'm very thankful for your input, good questions, good points and good suggestions.
Cheers!

@ matski
yes, I understand that with the caps I wasn't sure myself and thought it was to imposing to use everything in caps.
I thought in using a black circle and the logo inside, there's still some usage for it but in the end I prefer it clean like this.

@ tank02
funny how things are and also how perceptions work.
your dot is way in and my is way out.
I thought in moving it a bit inside.I really like the stuff you did there and that's also the approach I'm working on.
It's nothing new but it's clean, direct, simple, formal and also elegant at the same time.
- uan2
you could repeat the dot in the C like this
avenir over the others...
and how about a font with oblique M legs,
- just posting it for ideas...not really a critique.uan
- hey uan, actually oblique legs was my first choice like Futura, Fira or Museo Sans for example.mnk_b
- let me try that with the dot. I also tried to play with negative space for the Cmnk_b
- and thanks!mnk_b
- I tried, the M loses readability and the C is totally something else. doesn't feel right or connected.mnk_b
- yep, i supposed so, ideas a bit to late in the process :)
check the vertical spacing/rhythm between the blocks in your design. imo they are not there yetuan - you mean like GRAPHIC ARTS is to close to name and the mark looks like floating?mnk_b
- besides, critique is welcome! specially in if that dot is too far away. don't want it too close but I want to keep a certain angle.mnk_b
- :-)
http://www.logobook.…mnk_b - screenshoted it from the ibercobre logo :-)uan
- :-)mnk_b
- freedom1
Adjust the leading.
- Calderone20001
I like it. Maybe a little more space between symbol and text
- set4
I would do a bit of this and then a bit if that and then make it a little more like this and all that and that
- mnk_b-1
- @ set dis or dat?mnk_b
- I would make the C 105% bigger. It looks shorter than the M if the tip is top-aligned.freedom
- Move the dot to the right a bit.freedom
- Graphic Arts or Graphic Designer? Or Graphic Art?freedom
- nice call freedom, I see that with the C too. thanks!mnk_b
- I don't think I want to move the dot more than in the example above of these two.mnk_b
- fuck me you're right! I actually do more than just graphic design but this logo is actually for graphic design related work. nice!mnk_b
- mnk_b-1
Corrections:
C is 105%
Dot is closer to slash
MC is aligned with E and L
MC is slightly to the left
Graphic Design instead
Tracking corrected?
More space between logo and name
Graphic Design is slightly to the right to align with G and ESomehow I feel the dot a bit claustrophobic like this but spacing between elements makes more sense.
- mnk_b-1
- Do the N and E right align perfectly?freedom
- actually yes, doesn't look like that right?mnk_b
- and I actually prefer it with the smaller dot. though it looks more balanced with the bigger dot I have more sense of a M with the smaller dot.mnk_b
- not feeling thisutopian
- neither the above?mnk_b
- which I actually prefermnk_b
- smaller "graphic design" aboveutopian
- thanks utopianmnk_b
