can anyone in europe or the UK speak to any actual change they've experienced from brexit?
brexit is interesting to me because it was a parallel to trump here in the states, but we've had massive evidence of his impact since day 1, an impact that to this day is reverberating. walking down the street, being in a crowd, going through entire regions of the country and the shift in experience is palpable.
so, do any europeans notice the loss of the UK? do folks in the UK notice the exit yet?
i ask because everything i say are op-ed screenshots or stories about regretful business owners, but not necessarily anything about how this policy shift has changed anything other than airport queues
- its tricky as the effects of brezxit are muddled with that of covid. the only thing ive directly seen is an exodus of foreign national workers and tax on smalltrooperbill
- ...goods into the country.trooperbill
- There's info out there but much if it is produced by think tanks, i.e. biased. And the effects of brexit are deliberately muddled with those of covid by some.Fax_Benson
- The run up to Brexit was such a fucking clusterfuck shitshow organised by clueless cunts, so the real impact won't be apparent for a while yet.face_melter
- Because everything that was meant to be sorted during the negotiations was completely bollocked-up.face_melter
- Personally, now I have Swedish citizenship, the UK can fucking burn for all I care. I won't be back.face_melter

I don't think they'll give a shit about other people's politics or principles if they get paid an extra £10k a year.Pan-continental HGV drivers spend a heck of a lot of time sat in their cabs doing literally fuck all, so as to comply with driving regulations, so that juicy pic above is just a cost added-in.

k, so I'll preface this by stating this isn't entirely 'Brexit-related' but I just got an updated price list of materials I regularly stock, as I'd lost the last couple of invoices and hadn't gotten around to updating my costs spreadhseet (clever) and fucking hell, the prices have gone up another 30% .. in the last two months. It's crazy. Price of a sheet of 6mm plywood has essentially more than doubled since the end of last year.
My clients ultimately pay for it, but fucking hell if it's not going to make regulars do a double take and likely shop around to check.
- No Brexit related, I think so. All my friends working on industry, have long complained about the increase in all prices...OBBTKN
- Wood, steel, inox, electronics...OBBTKN
- Yeah, there's been rumblings of discontent across Europe and N.America for a while - I doubt recent events here in Blighty have helped much, mind :\Nairn
- It's more that Brexit is terribly - or, to look at it another way - perfectly - timed. Hopefully some here will see it's better to be part of something bigger..Nairn
- ..when all the forces of Shit align to dump themselves upon us. So stupid. Aaaanyway.Nairn
- I was painting a fancy office at the start of the year and some furniture they'd ordered were taking a couple of months more to come from Europe.PhanLo
- Apparently the Suez boat thing slowed up supply too.PhanLo
- Cost of shipping anything globally is up massively + Cost of fuels up + UK shipping f*cked so costs up + BoE, ECB, FED printing money like confetti = Inflation.shapesalad
- I hope everyone is happy with their Brexit.utopian
