- so weird... is this an actual update on the QBN end?monospaced
- my guess, it is for monitoring us.organicgrid
- that weird PV menu disappearing when scrolling issue seems to be fixed too, at least for mealiastime
- Chrome update fixed it. Not QBN.benfal99
- organicgrid, probably not since qbn is not connecting to another server besides google analyticsmekk
- probably something to do with latest flash update.ESKEMA

for any QBN replacement to work we've got to bring the whole database with us.

I dont know if someone already ask for this, but post EDIT and DELETE option would be much appreciated.
- nomonospaced
- why?benfal99
- I love that you can't delete or edit. It's like real life -- once you say something, you can't take it back.Krassy
- yeaaahhh..benfal99
- because it would be mayhem... you could start a huge reaction and then change the comment? yeah rightmonospaced
- Well, a lot of sites will let you edit your comment for only a few minutes after to catch a typo or broken link etc.ETM
- That might work. Brief window to fix your mistake, but cant change anything later.ETM
- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
There wouldn't be a benfal of the day thread otherwise.ORAZAL - lol ;-)benfal99

- At the moment, the 'newer tech' are jpg's. It's the tech that's missing.d0mino

I wonder if all this spurred qbn into updating?

cant believe this thread existed when i wrote that other thread about exit plan... weird, the exit plan thing just came to me in the shower, had no idea this thread had happened already. collective conciousness or what.
anyway, yeah that looks beautiful but damn it would be a lot of work to make functional. I could help but probably only a couple hours a week and this puppy would need a lot of weeks at that rate.
i also dont work with well classes and shit im still fairly noob despite knowing my way around specialized functions and general php / mysql relationships.
if you find someone more pro who can take more on, i can definitely relieve some of the workload on it and/or be assigned some menial php tasks to keep things moving faster. hit me at nate@3030.ca if im not responding on here fast enough.
- yes i was thinking about qbn in the shower today.mantrakid
- Don't worry, you are not alone:

I'm pro–open membership. PublicVoice 2.0 might encourage some actual design / industry discussion and new members would make things interesting.
I understand not wanting to open the gates to noobs / spammers but there's ways around this.
An invite system is one way. Forcing new users to apply via portfolio / written submission (like some private torrent clubs) is another.
P.S. The redesign is really nice, UX wise it's almost perfect. Totally agree you could shop this around as an improved VBulletin. My only criticism would be that it's a little uncharismatic for a design forum. I realise it's still early days so your priorities lie with site structure / functionality (and you've done a superb job) but if it launches publicly it would need stronger branding to be successful.
If I was unacquainted with QBN or the personal jokes I probably wouldn't even know it was a design forum, so it probably wouldn't hurt to make it look like one.
- I hate the idea of a hyper active forum full of newbs. Invite is the way to go.inteliboy
- In the other thread, didn't we discuss applying for membership, filling out a survey of some kind?mg33
- I don't like design for the sake of designset
- Meaning I think the threads are key, no point designing just to make it look pretty, imo. I hear you though.set

i'm not sure about the open membership...
I like how we almost know each other in here. Just imagine truck loads of newbies arriving each week... the place will become unpersonal veru quickly.
- Yeah fuck those newbies.the_reverend
- I agree with that. Open membership would really change our nice, little community.grotesk_neue

Personally I would like to have...
- public forum
- ability to navigate to first or last post (by clicking either the title or the post count number)
- ability to favourite topics and view list
- dog ear function
- very light moderation (spam, serious abuse)Maybes...
- open membership
- edit post function - (?)
- favourite posts (?)- edit post could be dangerous... maybe only within the first 2 minutes?monospaced
- I too thought the timer thing is ideal, just for spelling corrections. I think we're getting ahead of ourselves though hahset
- +1. As long as people are willing to devote the time to moderate (fairly), I think open membership is goodukit2
- It might be possible to build in automated constraints against spam like Reddit does...more advanced feature thoughukit2
- I like free speech. I'd only ever delete serious abuse and spam personally.set
- organicgrid-2
I find sets' ui design much more aesthetically pleasing.
