This is embarrassing. What happened?

No backend skills but can help in other ways?

I quite like the idea of one thread only viewable to logged in members, for work in progress feedback. Sometimes I'd like to post stuff but don't really want it public.

Also, in the other thread about this, we talked about organizing around topic groups. Can't remember what the consensus was on that, but I do remember that it created two different scenarios:
1) Arranged by threads as QBN currently works - with some threads expected to be gigantic and always growing (Gif OTC, COTD, What are you listening to, etc.)
2) Arranged by topic groups (ex: Web Design, Print Design, Help Needed, Photography, Music, etc.) - There's a benefit to this approach in that some things important to the person posting them (looking for help on something, for example) get lost in threads that grow in length, and only allow for comments to the right. However, there's a gray area when it comes to how we all expect some of the larger threads to work. I wouldn't expect people to post gifs as individual new threads - same for now listening, COTD, etc. Those work effectively as always growing threads.
Certain topics will lend better to users replying directly below the original post, like we do for many threads. A request for help, for example, follows a flow where the user posts their request, and people post replies to it, images, etc. and don't have to rely on just the comments tool for their message.
Just thinking through this in my head at the tail end of a boring meeting.
I could see a benefit to having some sort of hybrid forum structure as follows:
Topics + Individual threads - (open a topic, view infinite threads within sort of like we currently do). People are free to post relevant threads within a topic.
Topics that are a single thread - Visually represented similar to a Topic, but opens a single thread in which users can only add replies to that thread, and comments to individual replies. This works for the bigger threads, keeps people contained within them.Like I said, just some thoughts.

Can someone link to the other thread about this design? There were a ton of good notes in there but I can't find it, even searching on Google.

Whoa, nice! Had no idea what this thread was about the past couple of days but finally took a look.
As I mentioned in the larger Responsive QBN thread, I'm a UX architect / interaction designer and would be more than happy to help out with this. I think I'd be willing to test and log issues in a prototype or something, or weigh in on how it's organized.
Set - I think I've said this before, but the design is so nice, I've always seen this more as something that you could sell or give to others to use. Like, if this could be a deployable platform for people to create a forum around. Such a massively better platform design than something like VBulletin.

So... is this actually in the works or just a concept still?
- lvl_130
yeah...so...front end looks nice...there is that pesky back-end that is still needing to be taken care of. Bueller? JK? anyone else i'm missing? i'm sure that massive data composition is sitting somewhere needing to be migrated.

And if we have MODS, I think we should have some sort of MODS rotation. Like for 6 months its a squad of 6-7 persons and we select 6-7 new one every 6 months.
Being a permanant MOD can become some sort of a power trip for certain person.
