- lol bullshit.
when it will be able to dig a hole into the ground you know its over for us, until then its just electricity powering a network for data.sted - https://i.giphy.com/…jonny_quest_lives

So ... Deepseek goes OMEGA VIRAL and they can handle the demand on their two Chromebook's they have to use for inference? Meanwhile Anthropic cannot handle the load of their paying customers with billions in funding? Do I get this right?

We might be in a real bubble pop scenario if Trump is actually talking about Deepseek...
"Trump on DeepSeek: I view that as a positive. If it is fact and it is true, and nobody knows, but I view that as a positive."

NVDA statement on DeepSeek
"DeepSeek is an excellent AI advancement and a perfect example of Test Time Scaling. DeepSeek’s work illustrates how new models can be created using that technique, leveraging widely-available models and compute that is fully export control compliant. Inference requires significant numbers of NVIDIA GPUs and high-performance networking. We now have three scaling laws: pre-training and post-training, which continue, and new test-time scaling.”

- Regardless of who did it, the fact that AI can be created cheaper and more efficient is overall great newsYakuZoku

Sensing an impending, overnight, NFT-like rapid lack of interest scenario for the sexier, expensive, subscription-based, heavily-funded AI products as eyeballs focus on the improving open source solutions, and with AGI around the corner it’s going to pivot yet again, as we hopefully get closer to me getting my hoverboard.

- lol but tbf a lot of the open source tech which both are based on is european and deepseek just popped the proprietary AI bubblekingsteven

DeepSeek’s Popular AI App Is Explicitly Sending US Data to China
Amid ongoing fears over TikTok, Chinese generative AI platform DeepSeek says it’s sending heaps of US user data straight to its home country, potentially setting the stage for greater scrutiny.- Perplexity AI offers the model with data retention in the US, under the Pro version. They added it yesterday just for this reason...grafician

https://i.imgur.com/…jonny_quest_lives - They are complaining that deepseek might have used prompt/output pairs from chatGPT to train it. But all these companies say you own the output, so boohoo.monNom
- It would do the same simply by using web scraped data. So much ChatGPT out there now.monNom

Copyright and Artificial Intelligence (Part 2: Copyrightability)
A Report of the Register of Copyrights
January 2025Here are the main takeaways:
- Al-generated content alone cannot be copyrighted - there must be meaningful human creative input
- Simply writing prompts is usually not enough to claim copyright
- Using Al as a tool as part of a larger process does not prevent copyright protection
- You can copyright the human-created parts of a work that uses some Al elements
- No new laws are needed right now to handle Al copyright issues
- I always modify AI outputs prior to production but I still feel dirty when I do itsausages
- So if you use Photoshops generative fill you're fuckedYakuZoku
- ^ its actually the opposite. The report says the human-created portions are still copyrightable, just not the bit you genfilled. Essentially, it's a derivative.monNom
- They talked about an AI comic where it was copyrightable because the author wrote the script, then used AI imagery, but controlled the placement and captioning.monNom
- So prompted image: no copyright.
Prompted image in a composition or ensemble: the composition or ensemble is copyrightablemonNom - Not a lawyer, do your own research. No warranties express of implied. Not valid in the province of Quebec.monNom
- that's writing.sted
- It’s a worthwhile read. The gist is that copyright exists to protect human output. Copyright still applies to the portion of the work a human creates.monNom
