vast areas of uninhabited nature, in Canada, endless Russian boreal forests, untouched by man, longer than the eye can reach

the major problem is population growth VS available ressources and how those ressources are distributed. That, will make us fall.
- and I thought it was going to be Apple's faultmonospaced
- i dont think its population. everyone on the planet can fit easy in australia or texasyurimon
- It's not population. It's consumption and imbalance.ETM

Well, so what?
There have been dominant species on this planet before us, and there will be after us.

Did anyone watch "2012" THE MOVIE!!
the moral of the story was, if you're rich you'll survive, if you're part of the 99% of humans that doesn't live in Africa (the most geologically stable continent)
YOU WILL FUCKN PERISH

"The two key solutions are to reduce economic inequality so as to ensure fairer distribution of resources, and to dramatically reduce resource consumption by relying on less intensive renewable resources and reducing population growth."
What he's saying... our only chance is a totalitarian socialist redistribution system and depopulation? Rings familiar...
- That's quite a logic leap there, mr limbaughhereswhatidid
- second option: industrial collapse and famines
let the nature take care of depopulationdrgs - Once we have a single entity taking care of worldwide "redistribution", it's over. We're in Hunger Games zone.shaft

This "study" again. It's all been said before:
"The Population Bomb is a best-selling book written by Stanford University Professor Paul R. Ehrlich and his wife, Anne Ehrlich (who was uncredited), in 1968. It warned of the mass starvation of humans in the 1970s and 1980s due to overpopulation, as well as other major societal upheavals, and advocated immediate action to limit population growth.

CASHBACK!
(from ukit's link, above)
“It is interesting how collapse theories mirror broader societal issues. During the Cold War, we had theories ascribing collapse to elite mismanagement, class conflict, and peasant revolts. As global warming became a public issue, scholars of the past began to discover that ancient societies collapsed due to climate change. As we have become concerned about sustainability and resource use today, we have learned that ancient societies collapsed due to depletion of critical resources, such as soil and forests. Now that inequality and “the 1%” are topics of public discourse, we have this paper focusing largely on elite resource consumption”.
.
I'd wager such mirroring is also behind the paranoid, relentless fantasising about conspiracy theories in tragic, but otherwise mundane events such as the recent Malaysian air disaster.
Yes, something weird and very bad happened, but no — it's not all that likely that a Zionist/Bilderberger-managed international capitalist cartel offed a plane so they could kidnap a load of inventors and cop a patent, capture couple of hundred people and harvest their organs, have a plane with which to crash into a building or fly over a city and EM/Nuke the fuck out of it/the a small country and then blame the whole thing on China as a preëmptive prod to a much-need third world war/global cull.
It's more likely there was a fire or a lone nutter did something awful.
More boring, less headliney, but you know Occam would've nodded agreeably whilst he shaved this morning.
- gosh you really have an ax to grind with conspiracy theorist, even when it has nothing to do with it, you still bring it upGeorgesIV

‘gosh you really have an ax to grind with conspiracy theorist, even when it has nothing to do with it, you still bring it up’ — georges
i don't really, man - although you appear to be taking my commentary personally.
I'm an 'ex-conspiaracy theorist' (lol) and still try and keep an open mind about things — don't think i didn't mull over the possibilities with MH370, but as certain motes began to appear, it looked less and less like something incredible. Just something terrible.
The above just popped into mind when I read through that article — how the patterns of CT reflect what's out there in movie or book land, or more these days, what people have read on Rense.
Again, georges - I'm not against the overall concept, what I loathe is the masturbatory fantasisation by people with too little common sense and what i perceive as a lack of respect for what is ultimately a human tragedy.
Besides which, you know what? Fox and CNN are incredibly keen to swim neck-deep in the lands of fantasy — Why?
Why is that?
CT's a fucking distraction from real Cs when the idiots bleat loud.

We haven't failed because we'll adapt. Life has an incredible way of adapting to hardships. We've been on this earth for around 100,000 years and have survived many cataclysmic events. Sure we may be inconvenienced with:
i. fresh water shortage
ii. rising sea levels
iii. acidic oceans
iv. higher rate of amphibian, bird, fish and mammalian extinctions
v. ozone layer depletions
ETC. ETC.
But that will be the new normal for our kids and we'll get over it. It's inevitable.- ... and get used to eating insectshotroddy

I didn't participate in the flight 370 thread because from the inception I knew it was a huge distraction, but to be honest, you'll never, I say never see me b@@sh people I disagree with, I'll point my disagreement and be done with it
I don't even consider myself a conspiracy theorist, I think it's a stupid term (mockingbird), I just think if everyone took the time to study some world history this planet will be in better shape,
what irks me most is the blatant propaganda I see everyday in the news, on the net, in people mouth and you realize all they had to do was google the subject they are spewing to see how wrong they are, we live in the future ffs
so maybe I get offended by your generalization, but I don't think I'm smarter than anyone else, by calling people idiots when it's been proven many time that those same idiots where often more rights than those who pretends to be authorities is just dismissive.
- detritus0
Oh, if you knew me IRL you'd know I'm first in line to label myself an idiot, I'm very inclusive that way.
I just assume I've said as much enough times on here for people to appreciate that I know I'm as much a part of any problem I comment upon as anyone else.
That said, there are a couple of people on here who wank off to that fantastical conspiracy bullshit far too much, and that I don't have much respect for.
*shrug*
