Albums I have picked up in the last few weeks, most from one seller at a car boot who was knocking them out at £2 each.
An old Man album might not normally be something I might get excited about, but I LOVE the fold-out poster sleeve of Wales inside the gate-fold, I just need to find a nice frame now.
Pleased to find this US copy of the 4th KC album, I have a few albums by him and this one turned out to be really good, it also features guitars by soon to be a Police man Andy Summers.
I have to admit I knew very little about this guy until I dug deeper into his story and like, WOW... If you don't know it, please search it out.
A tenner seemed reasonable for this original UK Vertigo, it was in VG+ nick and is an odd one fersure.
An Bollywood soundtrack for the 1979 movie Sweet Memories festooned in stickers.
1970 compilation of East African music put together by ethnomusicologist Jean Jenkins.I rarely come across any albums by Alton Ellis but this one from 1984 appears to be signed, twice!
Another album I picked up with no knowledge of, but it wasn't until I got home I realised it had a different record inside. I got quite chatty with the guy who sold it, about radio and African music and we've since been in touch so fingers x I'll be able to pair them up properly sometime in the future.
Sweet mid 60's Brazilian Jazz.

I'm just back again from another successful dig down south, I make the trip every 6 weeks or so and this visit to friends and family and found some great records. I only went to 2 boots and both were busy with one bloke turning up with boxes that looked very dusty even sitting on the grass at an early morning Northamptonshire playing field but I bought several from him including the Hatfields & KPM albums at £2 a pop.
I have had a green/red label re-issue for years so was chuffed to find a UK original with a laminated sleeve & all.
This came with a fancy outer polythene bag from Hong Kong.
A nice pair of Library albums, one from 1977 by the Pentangle guitarist and another of horror & creepy sounds by Dennis Farnon & Dick Walters from 1979.I'll put finding this one down to the cosmic laws of karma, I dropped a crate of albums off at a charity shop in Milton Keynes, asked if they had anything out the back and she came out with this.
A second hand shop was closing down in Milton Keynes but they let me dig out the back and I turned up some great singles and this original UK pair of rare 60's Jazz albums, both in lovely condition.
I hardly ever come across her albums in the wild so was pleased to find this UK pressing from 1964.My local car boot turned up some great Queen bootlegs and some live DVD's but best of all amongst the £1 music books this beast an original Motörhead songbook!
- damn! than Ramon Morris has been on my wantlist for a while. great job as always.scruffics

One record fair, half a dozen charity shops and 2 auction wins later...
7"s
Catchy Rockabilly single from the early 80's.
Both titles are mis-spelled on this Doctor Bird release in an original company sleeve no less.
I was intrigued when I first saw the cover in the box, but it turned out to have the wrong record inside and after I turned it over and saw what was supposed to be on it wasn't surprised someone had got shot of it, am still keeping the sleeve though.
One of only three releases on this Scottish label, which came in a hand stamped paper sleeve.
Groovy mid 60's pop cover featuring an uncredited Jimmy Page on guitar.
Another mis-spelling, this B side of I Wanna Be Your Man was supposed to be Stoned so maybe that explains it.
Seems a bit harsh!
6 track Xian E.P. on Deroy.albums
I bet old Neil was pissed when he found out there were only solo tracks by his other band members on this US promo compilation.
Rare Irish Folk.
Bizarrely in the same box was this Disco album by an Irish family of singers who won the talent show Opportunity Knocks at their first attempt but never reached the heights of The Nolan Sisters.
Beautiful German choral music recorded live in a H U G E cave, great sleeve!
A pair of cheesey South African pressings in great sleeves.
I never realised this had two one sided acetate discs inside until I got the box back from the auction, a well spent tenner +11% commission fees.

I've been on another jaunt digging down south, I stayed in the Milton Keynes area this time but probably hit every charity shop there with mixed returns. I did drop off 3 huge boxes of LP's I had won in a previous auction that were sitting in my mum's garage at various shops in the south of the city, but it was 7"s I was mostly looking for this time and I found plenty from the 60's.
Theme from a early 60's TV show I wasn't familiar with which came in a scarce picture sleeve with Herbert Lom on the front/back, the B side is another John Barry tune bizarrely called Onward Christian Spaceman.Another 60's single which was in amazing condition for it's age as other copies I have come across over the years are usually pretty battered by kids playing them with no thought for future spinners, but this copy looks un-played, incredible but I'm not a fan of Eric's version of the Dr. Who theme.
Another 60's theme but from a Hitchcock film.
Hoyt Axton cover version by an Essex based R&B group.
This caught my eye as it's an R.G.M. Sound (Joe Meek) production.
I picked this up for my Rangers FC collecting mate (he already had it, lol).
I never knew the Roxy sax man did a cover version of the old Wagner classic, it's pretty good!
I was aware that two of The Rutles knocked this song off but I didn't know it came in such a horrible khaki coloured vinyl.
I had to have this covers E.P. from 2007 as it includes one by the Ramones.
Probably the rarest single I found was this original UK issue in it's super scarce picture sleeve.
I was chuffed to find this for a quid, an early SFA in a great fold out poster sleeve.

I remember hearing this song and video 5 years ago on Pitchfork or Stereogum or some music blog or social media. I remember passing it around to friends that love Pavement/Stephen Malkmus as much as I do.
Fast Forward to this year. My son got himself a cute little hipster girlfriend. Her and her friends got tickets to some show and he was bummed it sold out before he could ask if he could go too. I thought I had never heard the band before and was surprised it sold out such a huge venue (half of an NBA stadium!) She got him a shirt and he's been wearing it almost everyday and listening to her music around the house.
Last month for his 14th birthday I hooked him up with his own turntable and he's been buying a bunch of records.
The other day he said "dad, I picked up this early Beabadoobee record and it has a song about the band you like Pavement".
I was blown away! I remeber hearing it then but never heard or thought about it again until now!

Quick question, G. Did the first pressing of marquee moon have the quotation marks or no?

Not so much of a vinyl find but more of a vinyl surprise as I ordered this box set in April and wasn't expecting delivery today. I've never owned a vinyl copy of Five Leaves Left so to have all the versions leading up to an identical copy (the dark green) complete with attention to detail gate-fold/inner/pink label etc is a lovely treat for the weekend.

Some of the albums and singles I have picked up on my local digging trips.
OK, I'll admit I picked this up for the cheesy sleeve, it was very cheap and turns out to be actually quite nice background muzak in a jazz stylee.I saw this on a stall at the big car boot (Scotland's largest I understand) a few weeks ago but he wanted a fiver for it, I was back there yesterday and he let me have it for £2, so I was pleased as it's rather good, as you can hear below. Not to be confused by the title of the same album released by Queen that year, it must have caused no headaches in record shops in 1976.
Another car boot find, but this one actually was a fiver. It's got several Zoo Records tracks exclusive to this release which has never been re-issued on CD so I had to have it.
I'm a sucker for odd private pressings and this one is quite unusual, it also came with a programme and booklet for the 1972 event.
Soundtrack to the great Liam Neeson movie from 1990.
7"s
One of only a handful of records released on this independent label, I assume this was released circa 1981 when Bobby died, not sure what the GBTP flag stands for on the rear of the sleeve.
Not having heard of Chris Rayburn before I just assumed it would be a fella singing but how wrong I was, a great tune too!
Bizarre 4 track UK EP featuring a weird mix of jazz, classical and dance music, with some backwards vocals in French thrown in for good measure.
Lovely field recording of A Record Fair held in Glebe Park, Bo'ness, Scotland in 1968.
A sweet soul 45 from 1974 which turned out to be the only release by the band and the label.
Another sweet soul 45 but this one is from 1969.

August is shaping up to be a good month for digging at fairs and auctions and on Scottish fields.
Great rare Scottish psychedelic, gospel rock find in a box at the auction last week, it hardly ever turns up in such clean condition and there were never many pressed, £60 well spent.
I found a copy of this spoken word album a year or so ago but I'll have to flip it now as this fresh copy is in better condition and has this large bizarre triangular sticker on the front!Under priced (£15) record fair find last weekend, it's not a pink label copy but an EX+ pink rimmed palm tree issue, a sweet keeper.

Some fella at the record fair had a huge box labelled "folk for a quid", I spent quite a bit with him and this wee gem was amongst them. He told me no-one buys folk records anymore, which I thought was odd.
I never turn my back on a Budgie LP.One of the rarest albums I have found this year is this Prog Jazz monster from 1971.
A few of the car boot 7" finds
A Hawkwind single I had not heard of.
Bought for the title, obviously
Bought for the (South African) sleeve obviously.
One off release by an Aberdeen power-pop band.

Just back from a family trip to mid Wales, visiting caves, parks and buying paintings, fancy cheese and erm, records. After a stop-over at the beautiful Ingleborough Cave in Yorkshire we drove past a small town that had a charity shop on the high street. "Stop if you want" said my very patient wife, so I pulled over to the side of the road with my flashers on and popped in, I saw a box on the floor and asked the guy on the counter if they had any more, "thousands round the back" he said, "but the bloke that sorts them is away for his lunch". So I left wondering what could have been out the back but we had to continue our journey and not hang about. I drive on about 100 yards and spot a 2nd hand shop on the same street and once again I get my wifes blessing to pull over and check it out. I walk through what looks like a large empty village hall and at the back spot a bloke eating a sandwich, "are you the guy who sorts the records for the charity shop?" I enquired and to my delight he said he was and asked if I'd like to come and have a look at them. He finishes his lunch and takes me round the back of the building to a lock up which he opens the door with a large pair of scissors (?!) inside is an Aladdin's cave of books, records and DVD's. "Help yourself" he says, "big one's a pound little ones 50p, oh but there's also this shed over here" and he takes me over the lane to a second hoard of audio visual media. This was all well and good I thought but I had left the family waiting patiently in the car, so I did one of the fastest record digs I think I've ever done, flipping through boxes in record breaking time and not checking condition just pulling whatever took my eye.
It wasn't the greatest of hauls in 20 minutes and less than half of it is posted below but there were several gems including half a dozen UK stereo ED1 Columbia/Decca/HMV classical albums. Anyway I thought I'd share the tale of their origin as I didn't find anything else on stops in Wrexham and Llangollen and no, I'm not telling you where it is as I may go back to those Yorkshire sheds one day!A nice pair of LFC singles I'd not seen before, there were a few other footie discs but I already had them.
Old recordings from various movies.
Proggy Jazz from the early 70's.Dixieland Jazz release from 1968 which I picked up for it's cover and later discovered a sing-a-long tour programme inside, but I was more pleased with the psychedelic MGM Records inner sleeve.
I don't normally pick up box sets but these were too good to leave and were each in beautiful condition.A nice couple of 50's 10" discs.
When I got home this wee beastie had plopped through my letterbox, a 4" exclusive from my Library of The Occult Records subscription club.
