I probably read a few too many conspiracy/doom sites, but I'm still particularly afraid of the Fukushima cleanup, and huge increases of radiation in the western US.
I think we are going to see more and more, and far more damaging hacking situations, especially with the intent to disrupt economies. That Target CC# hack job feels like a sign of things to come. Information feels so unsafe sometimes; I think there are just too many malicious people who want to F stuff up.

i agree with mg33, the world has become too fragile with respect to our personal information and the related services that seemingly pops up fresh on the daily, so fast in fact that the tech is not tested thoroughly enough with a sprinkle of most people just want to believe that Sony, Target, Snapchat, Facebook, etc. must have made sure that every precaution is being taken with user data.
i mean every week now we seem to hear about the latest hack. teh one this week involves the personal phone numbers + names of 4 million teenagers. shrugs. http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/01/te…
perhaps a prediction will be more people than before will wake up in 2014 and demand higher security standards, boycott services, etc.
- The average person needs to be educated about security before they can demand better.BabySnakes

"Even so, mankind will suffer badly from the disease of boredom, a disease spreading more widely each year and growing in intensity. This will have serious mental, emotional and sociological consequences, and I dare say that psychiatry will be far and away the most important medical specialty in 2014. The lucky few who can be involved in creative work of any sort will be the true elite of mankind, for they alone will do more than serve a machine."
