"During a guest lecture at Boston University on Monday, University of Washington Professor Robin DiAngelo told the audience a “dangerous white person” sees people as individuals rather than by skin color.

DiAngelo, whose main field of work is “whiteness studies,” added that those who say they were taught to treat everyone the same deny black people of their reality, she said."

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee Honors KKK Grand Wizard With Proclamation

    • hmm curious did Phil Bredesen also honor the historical figure? seems more culture and history than race centricdeathboy
    • its is quite easy to disagree with historical injustices and not try to remove them from the history books. hell the south white pride is very importantdeathboy
    • for history. they were legally told something was property and built life around such laws. than to have them uprooted. #1 it should be remembered as a failuredeathboy
    • of gov and law failing to popular majority. Lets not try to forget our mistakes at all even if its simply a symbolic gesture which can be taught upondeathboy

    • understanding different perspectives is a big part of communication and writing off different perspectives as absolute right wrong based on your perspectivedeathboy

    • slavery did help build this country. could ply the what if game with out it. a lot of success/progress is built on corpses thoughout history. something thatdeathboy

    • you ever question if you are controlled by the new modern religion sell? with us or agaisnt us and no need to understand different viewsdeathboy

Lately I've noticed agendas toward "benefits of people of color". This use to be broadly based as minorities. However you see that word less considering the regression of "white" majorities in states especially by policy makers.

Could it be policy like this that helps rile up the KKK types? Not many point it out of cultural fear of being called a racist. But an obvious agenda geared towards non-whites would call for some sort of reaction? We respond to past rules and hold those who , even violently revolted in high regard. Does such policy not strenghten the KKK like a black panther party?

I hope people nip this in the bud before it spreads farther. Its division politics and only used by the worst most inept leaders. And yes lower case trump used it. Quite successfully even. We don't need worse crawling up his coattails.

    • 'Lately I've noticed' is rather anecdotal. Without examples of actual policies that specifically target whites in favour of POC, you're just creating theFax_Benson
    • division politics you complain about.Fax_Benson
    • Let's face it, racism and white identity politics has been an element of American conservatism for a long time. Just look at the tapes of Ronald Reagan releasedyuekit
    • the other day where he calls black politicians monkeys. I think all that has changed today is that the new media has removed the gatekeeper aspect thatyuekit
    • was keeping a lot of this sentiment in check. Along with the emergence of someone like Trump who is willing to blatantly exploit racism for political gain.yuekit
    • fax i was thinking the aoc/harris news hype. Today, I'm partnering with @AOC to announce a landmark bill to ensure that a Green New Deal leaves no one behind andeathboy
    • and lifts up low-income communities, people of color, and indigenous communities.deathboy
    • why colored people? its gas lighting.deathboy
    • well context fo reagan is monkees is savages who where no shoes. what would some on call a poor white person from the ozarks?deathboy
    • a taped private conversation that doesnt reflect reagan actions. his wife anti drug campaign was something else though..like m.obamas..deathboy
    • reagans wife worse for sure.. but noting comaprison for an idea "you need to do something or alleviate a pet peeve by force"deathboy
    • as far as white identity being a form of "conservatism" in a joke. It is simply tribal instinct that crosses political boundaries. again dems champion minimumdeathboy
    • wage and yet here it was a politcal measure to lessen the higher of negros on railroads. Hopefully force them out. So many racist policies on both sides.deathboy
    • but what im talking about has nothing to do with policy but publics slow acceptance to this baby stepping splitting of ideas of people.deathboy
    • Lets say hypothetically more states continue to be non white while major businesses remain owned by whites. We get a perfect scenario to repeat a pattern ofdeathboy
    • history. I'm noticing the talk escalate, and fearful white culture sensitive group acting only makes it worse. and at this rate if we don't ask what is thedeathboy
    • cause we may find ourselves fucked and repeating history. white slaves? a jew genocide in canaan and them having genocide commiteddeathboy
    • yea its early. no race wars early. but it triggered my spidey sense as something to watch. a pattern.deathboy
    • and i take back racism on trump. his appeals regarding race to people were always backseat.deathboy
    • in that race had correlation but never the point. Not racist to focus on immigration and effects of economy. but easily spun as racist...deathboy
    • he strikes me as a person who has no concern for race. but he still has the mindset he can central plan through trade agreements and control economy.deathboy
    • which is terrible.. but dems believes the same but on roids, or at least what they are selling for a chance to get 4 years and paid for life.deathboy
    • some survivor island game show. fuck the people hard or get off. but back to the point watch for "real" equality for all or separation.deathboy
    • Look at the history of the conservative movement since the civil rights era...you would have to be deaf dumb and blind not to see the white identity politicsyuekit
    • aspect of it. It's been openly acknowledged by political strategists for politicians like Nixon. Reagan kicked off his campaign at a town that was known foryuekit
    • lynching black civil rights activists. Welfare queens, tough on crime and just say no campaigns...all had an obvious racial undertone.yuekit
    • I mean obviously after blacks gained equal rights the country did not become non-racist overnight, and there were politicians willing to exploit that.yuekit
    • Tell me yuekit what "conservative" policies after civil rights favored whites? And a fun fact a town reagan kickoffed in is not a reason to label racism.deathboy
    • And i think reagan wife drug war was stupid and it did effect race differently, although that's do to a lot of socio economic factors. if we looked at drugdeathboy
    • issue more libertarian we could be more free. but less safe. we chose security democratically.deathboy
    • but on this post and having a dumb kid shoot up a walmart. that is what im talking about. this PC bullshit and having any kind of negative feelings along racedeathboy
    • as wrong. these kids following social media and news weaponizing feelers and stigma as a form of control. painting an unreal picture.deathboy
    • it is very human to feel fear or confusion or feelings when ones environment is changed or taken over by different people and culture.deathboy
    • its why you see boroughs of similar people in every major populace. very basic and tribal. and to tell people they are wrong to think or feel shit based on itdeathboy
    • reminds me of a church telling homos its bad to like same sex stuff. trying to hide it it still works out in some non normal ways.deathboy
    • i think people have to quit this all racism is evil shit. that is too black and white. its derived of fear first that leads to hate because its never helpeddeathboy
    • hate is an action based motive that can be used to deal with a fear. perhaps if racism wasnt thought of as evil but more a fear of heightsdeathboy
    • it wouldn't be sold so hard by people using it for selfish gains. and people be more helping and less defensive. like a person who's scared of a dogdeathboy
    • theyre frightened for sure, but you will be surprised how many people will be moved by others that understand and have dog sit and help them get over itdeathboy
    • reach out and pet the dog and see there is no fear needed. One bad experience doesn't have to sell out all dogs. But you don't have thatdeathboy
    • culturally you are suppose to despise anyone with any negative feelings. in this environment all you create is resentment and hate.deathboy
    • just some thoughts from my bike ride amongst other AE work around shitdeathboy
    • deathboy not looking to start another 100 note debate, I'll just say this... there are plenty of behaviors like violence, rape etc that were considered "normal"yuekit
    • at some point in human history but that we don't tolerate anymore. I would put racism in the same category. It wasn't that long ago that you had differentyuekit
    • groups of ethnic whites hating and fighting each other, now this would be viewed as completely silly. So I don't think it's inevitable, the problem are peopleyuekit
    • like Trump and right-wing media that encourage people to view the world this way and indulge in basic tribalistic thinking.yuekit
    • cultured norms don't synchronize with biology so need to always consider them. also trump and right wing media only ones promoting tribalism?deathboy
    • my broad point is the both sides promoting tribalism and base race (similarity) instincts drives hard as possible. It wont end welldeathboy
    • do you see trump as disimilar to almost all running opposed? or even the social democratic media sellers? Do they divide differently?deathboy
    • "both side are bad" in the white supremacy thread....pango
    • i don't think you are or at least hope you're not posting these in the white supremacy thread in defence of white supremacy.pango
    • with the history of USA we can guess what would happen when the supremacy is empowered...pango
    • jeez pango read one of my few hundred notes. i think it goes without question in defense of white supremecy or any supremecydeathboy
    • and highly question the narratives that support such shit because i believe very few people think such things. but many can be emotionally provoked to believedeathboy
    • such things creating a bs snowball effect.deathboy
    • how you think i got you saying "both sides are bad"? i read 1 or 2 of your notes.pango
    • ? dont get it. are you saying you read like 1-2 and commented mimicking just because. Could you elaborate? I dont get itdeathboy
    • i aint got time to read all the notes lol. however i was genuinely hoping you weren't defending white supremecy. because you sound like you were.pango
    • haha pango. perhaps you shouldn't try find reason in sounds but words and logic. separates us from song birdsdeathboy
    • pffff we dont need that. we just need rules. what would we be if there are no rules!pango
    • haha. rules are quite the dick hardening solve all for many people. Just others dont need them. Think it was aristotle who said soemthign very nice about rules.deathboy
    • something along the lines of those living through sound philsophy need nothing from rules. rules are only there to try and whip people to live reasonably.deathboy
    • and as such are abstract and can also be quite irrational.deathboy
    • Thought you love Socrates. How you miss this? without rules we are nothing but animals.pango
    • pango the point was those who live through philosophy live above rules. rules are only needed for animalsdeathboy
    • now the defintion of philosophy... a very socratic philosophy is prefered not a mao. one sound and rationale and not swiss cheese of logic.deathboy
    • why i follow certain rules with no fear or acknoweldgement of laws. It just makes sense. why i also break others freely becuase they do not.deathboy
    • rules are really for animals who dont understand why they are in place.deathboy
    • news flash. some animals don't give a shit about rules. and you're only pretending you're free from rules. cherry picking the ones that's convenient.pango
    • and easy to get away with. go try to break every rules in your daily life and see how far that get you.pango
    • "those who live through philosophy live above rules"
LOL ya that's what they say. but they still follow rules.
      pango
    • also what a snob thing to say lolpango
    • i dont know pango. how free are you.? do you know what rules i follow out of "law" or what i follow out of philosophy?deathboy
    • there are some i am forced to follow in public. and yea im a snob when it comes to values and philosophy. my value differ though from general definitiondeathboy
    • "forced" that doesn't sound free.pango
    • no it's not very free pango. sometimes we have to live with forced conditions of uncivilized society or false ideals. such is lifedeathboy
    • You sure sound free. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯pango
    • Im pretty free. Not much I rely on I don't control. Think you are mistakening my "forced term" I may need to bite my tongue where words enrage simpsdeathboy
    • basic survival. mos def covered it all in GOT. freedom is a utopian concept that you strive for. and ppl have all kinds of anxieties pending on how much theydeathboy
    • may have. but personally im pretty fuckin free in many aspects of the termdeathboy
    • a fish living in a fish tank it's entire live thinks it's free as well.
      keep telling your self that.
      pango
    • so you choose to believe you are a fish in a tank. or at least think i am a fish trapped with you? you will need to explain what freedoms i have no access fordeathboy
    • metaphordeathboy
    • Hey you're the one saying you're free.pango
    • not a 100 percent i trade some freedom for scoiety and protection, not an anrachistdeathboy
    • So your not free but you feel your free. And willing to trade Freedome for protecting. I thought American way is the other way around.pango
    • And it took you 10 month to reply that?
      Get it together!
      pango
    • Not quite. I hardly trade freedom for protection. I think collective financing in form of certain taxes is appropiatedeathboy

    • Most cowboys were indians, black and mexicans?... hmm id like to see numbers. Vaqueros yea but a majority? Indians.... not so much some translators.deathboy
    • blacks probably slightly better than indians... maybe cowboy definition is undefined is the problem. Does a cowboy mainly take care of cattle?deathboy
    • or are we talking any pioneer an indian attacks. What is the idea of a cowboy. Because western cinema portrays quite a few white non cattlemen as cowboysdeathboy
    • "quite a few" Compare to "pretty much all"pango

    • This is true deathboy. Cowboys were the people who worked on cattle ranches you dunce. They were not mostly white. Never were.monospaced
    • There obviously were and are white cowboys. But they weren’t the majority. I happen to know people who actually study this.monospaced
    • lol just realized i posted the video on the wrong post. well still a good videopango
    • uh yea mono you dunce specifying and wondering if it based on technical term or popular usage... not eour use of cool and hot terms vs real definitions....deathboy
    • but mono since you know someone im sure you can provide the historical census data that depicts such definitions. please sharedeathboy
    • personally i have always thought of cowboy as defined by a hat and a gun in the side. wether it be miner or gun for hire. but if it is purely cattlehanddeathboy
    • it wouldn't suprise me to hire an immigrant for lesser wage. is it any less american culture than to make riches using cometitive labordeathboy
    • but still very skeptical on the black and indigenous stats. mexico makes a great amount of sense considering timing and territory gaindeathboy
    • i wonder mono if you get all bent out of shape when you learn you never really actually have ever touched anything. not your wife not your childdeathboy
    • defintions, physics and relations. this cowboys feels a bit based on that thinking dissecting a term out of context knowing it just chumming the waterdeathboy
    • your definition of a cowboy was shaped by media ... I don't need to prove factual history you can find yourself in secondsmonospaced
    • I understand you want to question it, so go ahead. THe fact is that cowboys were a majority racial minorities. I'm sure you'll be happy to educate yoruself.monospaced
    • I'm not bent out of shape at all, btw. Just clarifying, since you questioned this person who is quite obviosuly correct.monospaced
    • Not sure why you envisioned a cowboy as just a jobless gunslinger though. It was an actual job, dude. Ranchers hired men to handle the cattle ranch, dumbass.monospaced
    • Those men were mostly mexican or black, since the labor was cheaper. It's recent history too, so your ignorance is almost unforgivable.monospaced
    • It is you, in fact, who is dissecting the term "cowboy" out of context, and defining it only within your narrow understanding, outside of actual history. Not memonospaced
    • 1dbloc
    • cowboy is a dude with a big hat to me.deathboy
    • but mono knowing ppl who study this you are in the best position to display research. at this point there is no evidence or even clarification of anythingdeathboy
    • its just people going nuh uh and my defitinion isnt yours. need defining data to make any real assumptions or establish any baselines. but you knew that alreadydeathboy
    • and totally working on providing any data from buddies to back that shared image from some random.. hehedeathboy
    • once again, your definition is the one that is incorrect, so repeating it over and over is not an argumentmonospaced
    • And if you want to learn about what a cowboy actually is, just look it up. Not sure why you're arguing, because these are simple facts. Not opinions.monospaced
    • If you define cowboys as just white guys in cowboy hats, then you're profoundly ignorant on the subject. Own that. Do yourself a favor and learn.monospaced
    • The defining data is there. It's studied and part of concrete history. There's absolutely no room for debate on the subject. So your debate is beyond silly.monospaced
    • So, just like the idiot in the post image, you're ignoring history in favor of your own ignorant understanding, tainted by hollywood and racism perhaps.monospaced
    • Can't this be said for most genres of television back in the day. Most actors were white.dbloc
    • ya even black characters were white.pango
    • still cant provide such data mono? you know ppl who study this!?deathboy
    • and you do realize mono definitions are relative... are you so dense you don't get it. did you notice how you took my view and tossed it as wrong?deathboy
    • cowboys cant be white guys in big hats!...Now take that behavior to marriage law. Fuckin dudes cant be man and wife theyre both guys!deathboy
    • Taking defintion and ignoring context, or taking law and ignoring context. is a quite saddeathboy
    • perhaps open your heart embrace others opinions and views?deathboy
    • perhaps open your heart and embrace the fact there were a lot of none white cowboys. equal or perhaps more than white people?pango
    • but the representation on the screen just doesn't hold up?pango
    • uhm pango i already said as much. many vaqueros are of non white varieties. This is all about the BS post trying to fake race card shit on the term cowboydeathboy
    • called out the black, and indian metrics, and than the cultural "cowboy" term. Its race bait click bait shit. u get that right?deathboy
    • you saying you got baited?pango
    • i got baited if the trap was to try to get rational ppl to explain the capt wow emo shit ppl respond too. personally don't think that is what the trap was fordeathboy
