Starting a new Marketing job in Feb and need to be advising of what software I'll be needing.
I've always gone with Web Premium and InDesign bolted on and I'll be after similar set up in new job.
Now looking for CS6 packages, Adobe are plugging the Creative Cloud quite a bit ad the cost model looks quite beneficial and gives you access to CS7 when it's released.
What are your thoughts on Creative Cloud? Have any of you been using it, had any issues?

I've been using since it's out, haven't had any issue, I think it's great for the cost.

Been using the Cloud since day one and have had no issues. Also agree that it's great for the cost.

Just started using it. Totally worth the price. Run the numbers and its hard to argue that it isn't the best way to go.
Am i missing something... is there anything you get actually buying a stand alone CS6 application/suite other than the lack of free access when they bump to CS7?

Been using it since day one. They have a good solution, i think, regarding the cloud. You only have to connect to Adobe like every 30 days or so (I think), so you technically don't have to be online often.
I am still not sure about this "cloud" thing. I've had the internet go down enough to know that if I lost connection, it would be a nightmare to sit and not be able to do anything. They seem to have addressed this. Still not sure how that technically means "cloud", though.
I am paying $29.99 a month for everything. Quite nice.
Now, if you could get all the companies, particularly the 3D companies, to do this all would be good.

I'd like to get the cloud option but just can't bring myself to commit to paying nearly double (UK price) the US subscription fees. It's scandalous.
- $30 is the "intro" price for past owners, so it'll probably be going up here soonformed

I understand it can now only run on one computer at a time, as opposed to two before?
- no, liscence is for 2 copies, mac or pc, doesn't matter...and you can change computer also, so it's not a problem.uan
- It can be installed on two but not run concurrently. It's not enforced by software but could be at any time.raf
- I run 1 copy on the mac and 1 copy on the pc simultanously all time. it works.uan
- It does because they don't enforce it but they introduced the new rule with CS6 and might start checking.raf

29 $ for everything?!
rippin us off in the EU
- 61, 49 euro a month! jeezwhereRI
- only for 6 months and only for current owners, then it goes up to $50monospaced

It's $50/month USD if you get a year's subscription. This is what I do and I love it.
- I do this toosublocked
- Yes, but do you love it too, sublocked?raf

Month-to-month it's $75/month USD. The $29 only applies to people who bought the last version or something, or education discount.

And as far as I've figured, the "cloud" just means they allow you to use their site like an FTP. It's not like you "work" from the cloud in any sense of the concept except to pull a file remotely, I suppose. I have asked this here before, but am I missing something?

- Right. Just asking if there's anything else to the "cloud" besides manual file storage.monospaced

I have it (cloud) and it works great.
Upgrades from cs3 and cs4 at the reduced rate are only available to the end of the year. From then on it will be cs5+ only to get the special intro price.
Only thing that it lacks are a team package where you could buy multiple subscriptions as a single user. At the moment it's one license per user which could be improved upon.

Wow, switching to The Creative Cloud opens up a huge number of new options.
What are some new tools you've found yourself using on Creative Cloud that you didn't use before?
- Continuity0
I assume when you use Cloud, you don't need to necessarily save your work to their server, and can save your work on your machine and work from there as normal?
- yes, works as normalmonospaced
- you just toss 'em in the cloud when you're donemonospaced
- Cool, thanks man.
I might actually look into this ...Continuity

anyone have experience how well creative cloud works if your wifi is flaky, or if you're in a place with no internet for a while?
(i.e. does it let you download some run-time and use it productively?)
- The app isn't on the cloud. You download it like a normal app and install it.fyoucher1
- it's just a fucking ftp as far as I can tell, ftp with a pretty face on a websitemonospaced
- It's just online DRManimatedgif

Cloud is great. I like how updates happen easily

I just wish the Creative Cloud web interface (Files) was more user-friendly. I should be able to drop a file structure into it and have it translate, for example. Or select a set of files to download instead of one at a time.
- I assume it's all a WIP. Just having the subscription model alone is a big step in the right direction, I'm sure the web interface will improve over time.Continuity
- ... interface will improve over time.Continuity
- What's WIP? Yeah, it's a great idea and it's helped me many times already. Can't wait for ugrades.monospaced
- Oh. WIP = Work in ProgressContinuity
- WIP it good.elahon

I actually think it would be cool to have a stand-alone Cloud app that would act as an interface to files you store on the web. Kinda like Bridge, or even incorporated into it. I would love to have a great, searchable, taggable database of my online files and be able to choose which ones are automatically updated online when I save. Something like that in addition to the web interface, something that can interact with local files as well.

I'm just upgrading from CS6 to CC - when I install through the Creative Cloud panel it doesn't give me the option to select either the 32 or 64 bit versions. If I'm on a 64 bit platform, does it install that by default?
