The Deafness Before the Storm
On Aug. 6, 2001, President George W. Bush received a classified review of the threats posed by Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network, Al Qaeda. That morning’s “presidential daily brief” — the top-secret document prepared by America’s intelligence agencies — featured the now-infamous heading: “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” A few weeks later, on 9/11, Al Qaeda accomplished that goal.

Sept 11 was the day I packed to move to Chicago from Texas. Woke up to what was happening but still had to pack and get loaded up to move. It was really surreal wanting to be in front of the TV all day and having this other stuff to do. We left the next day and I've been here ever since.
- So, you're saying you were absolutely nowhere near it?Eighty

Every time 9/11 comes around since the day it happened I write to my politicians asking for the arrest of George W. Bush. We have over 28 defense programs, not one did anything about the intelligence it had, Bush went to Iraq, kill over 4000 on 9/11 + those killed in Iraq.
Clinton goes on trial for a BJ meanwhile Bush allowed 4000 Americans to die + our military for a war for the rich to profit.
I CANT BELIEVE HIM, CHANEY & RUMSFELD ARE STILL FREE!
I would have some respect for Obama if he put them on trial but nothing happened.
I thought we had the best government, the best security, defense and compassions for tis citizens. NOPE! we are now a nation that polices its people and launches wars to profit and further expand capitalism. What will America do when there are no more lands to concur?

I'd just left Manhattan two days earlier and was in N. Carolina vacationing with the family on the 11th. My sister in-law's partner's dad had a business in one of the towers. I will never forget the emotion and terror on her face as the events unfolded on TV. Fortunately her dad was on business in Seattle at the time, but most of the people that worked for the company were family or friends.
Sorry. just had to share.

The day 9/11 happened I was working on a flash game for an Expo in NY promoting scottish business in the US. The game involved bowling a haggis towards the NY skyline to knock the buildings down like bowling pins. The twin towers were the front pin.
A friend with mates in the US was on MSN and told me to check CNN to see what just happened in NY.
Needless to say the game was scrapped and never saw the light of day.

I had a strange dream the other night in which it was revealed to me that China was behind the 9-11 attacks. They propped up and supported (or framed) Bin-Laden.
The more i thought about it, the more it made sense, and after all the dust has settled, China has ultimately prospered the most from these attacks.
I just started looking around a bit and lo and behold others share the same view.

From that NYTs article Utopian posted:
"But some in the administration considered the warning to be just bluster. An intelligence official and a member of the Bush administration both told me in interviews that the neoconservative leaders who had recently assumed power at the Pentagon were warning the White House that the C.I.A. had been fooled; according to this theory, Bin Laden was merely pretending to be planning an attack to distract the administration from Saddam Hussein, whom the neoconservatives saw as a greater threat. Intelligence officials, these sources said, protested that the idea of Bin Laden, an Islamic fundamentalist, conspiring with Mr. Hussein, an Iraqi secularist, was ridiculous, but the neoconservatives’ suspicions were nevertheless carrying the day.
In response, the C.I.A. prepared an analysis that all but pleaded with the White House to accept that the danger from Bin Laden was real."
Wow, the neocons seemed to have based all of their decisions on just their feelings and not on any facts.
- Is this any surprise at all? Neocons will vote for someone based entirely on their gay marriage stance.aaux
- not surprised, just even more appalled that there are people who are comfortable making decisions of this magnitude while not paying attention to factsJosev
