I don’t consider myself a prepper but I’ve got enough desert festival gear to build a small village. Recently bought a ShiftPod. Also have a Honda EU22001 gennie, 3000w solar array and a pretty large lithium ion battery bank (just switched over from 25x lead acid deep cycle marine batteries). I have light stands, water filters, 5-gal storage jugs, folding bed, a van and a 5x8” box trailer to store it all in.
Only thing i need is emergency shelf stable food. Previously i had a case of MREs but rats ate the entire thing. Right now i just have lists of the stuff i need, immediate and long term. I figure you should have a solution for 2-3 days, 2-3 weeks, and 6 month+. The long term kit should have stuff like extra antibiotics, tools, textiles, and seeds.
Some friends have a bit of land in colorado.
I wanna be able to start a new colony at the drop of a hat
- yeah man! I got my eye on a couple lots down here around 10 hectares for around $10k US about 1/2 click from the beach, the drawback is its secludedmoldero
- secluded in mexico = badmoldero
- *300w in solar panels, not 3k (i wish)scarabin
- i hope u got an inverter lolsted
- I do, and a box of backup cheap onesscarabin
- That’s like what, 25 acres? Not bad!scarabin
- if i went back stateside I'd pick Colorado, love that place.moldero
- get that thing defensible now loltrooperbill
- You need to get some of Jim Bakker's food buckets!

- An illustrated, aerial view.ideaist
- ^Illustration is great. Did you do it?PhanLo
- It IS great; a local / bud did them: https://sdmcdonald.c….
He's one of the original "adult colouring book" dudes.
Made a shit ton of $ from it.ideaist - How’s the internet? Only thing stopping me from spending more Covid time up at the cabin is I can’t work thereGnash
- Where's your cabin homey? Yeah, internet is a dddrrraaaggg and we live in a valley, within a valley...ideaist
- ...We have a Bell LTE signal that I rebroadcast using a Uniquiti AmpliFi router. It allows ME to work BUT large files are a wash.ideaist
- Xplornet (I know, i know) provides us with unlimited (although tapered +100GB) streaming for the kids and my wife's addiction to shitty NETFLIX shows.ideaist
- Cabin is 30-minute dirt road north of Bobcaygeon. I don’t even get cell service :/Gnash
- Damn, you can work via lte? I just sent 4 3gb files to Europe this morning - I needs the high-speed.Gnash

My dad 'Filipino fisherman raised in Hawaii' taught me how to throw a Hawaiian throwing net since I was a kid, pretty good at it, also been spear fishing since I was a kid, & went commercial salmon fishing the last 2 summers, I live on the beach in Mexico so as far as food goes, I'll be good, I have 2 refrigerators & picking up a couple proper chest freezers this weekend from my Canadian friends that are moving back to Canada, got a good genny for power, looking into picking up 4 or so 50 gallon drums to store backup water, my pantry is stocked to the max with non perishables, trucks always gassed up.
paranoid? maybe. worried? nope, just ready.
what y'all doing?
lets get some action in this thread, curious to see how others are prepping or not
- Are you ok?
You've been.. a little left of centre recently.Nairn - ^^ its all going down man!
the isolation may be getting to memoldero - No going to lie - I discussed 'bug out plans' with my partner back in Feb when it looked a bit dodgy with the whole Wuhan Flu thing on the horizon.Nairn
- while all my friends are starting to hang out with each other again im still taking this quarantine shit pretty serious I guessmoldero
- (as it what as the time - I'm not trumpeting Trump's bullshit 'Chinaaah Virus')Nairn
- + Trumps been playing it as if its nothing to worry about, & we didn't even hit wave 2 yetmoldero
- so you have the right saying "everything is fine' then you have the left shutting down small businesses, both are recipes for disastermoldero
- Are you ok?

i got a shitload of porn if my internet dies.

I've got two Robert de Niro faced flesh lights and a shit load of batteries, so I should be fine for the occasional hate-wank after the apocalypse hits.
- lolmoldero
- They have poseable faces. By which I mean they remain entirely and singularly rubbery and consistent, as is the very epitome of de Niro's lack of range.Nairn
- Still, it's amusing to pull up his cheeks into a morbid grimace after I've filled his mouth.
OK, enough.Nairn - I fucking hate de Niro.
I hope he doesn't survive the apocalypse.Nairn - Disaster Preparation:
Ascertain whether de Niro has survived the apocalypse; if so - hunt down and kill.
Then wank over corpse.Nairn - LOLmoldero

- Picked up a Honda generator Finally. That was the last bit of gear I needed.Gnash
- nice!moldero
- Cabin up north stocked up nice. Bag in the car, bag at home.Gnash
- I have a champion inverter generator and to this day wish I’d stumped up extra $$ for a Honda. So so quiethardhat
- took me ages to decide on a genni. In the end I went with heavy dutyGnash
- Ya, quiet is important, but quality for long term use was key for me.Gnash
- I’m not a mechanical mcgiver so I want dependable gearGnash
- I also want to be able to power a 240 welderGnash
- I’ve been trying to get solar setup working better, but I think I’ll have to stump for LiFePO4 batterieshardhat
- Ya, all about the batteries ^Gnash

The worst thing I ever saw in my life as far as a huge mess with people actually suffering was Katrina, and that was just in NO, and only for 3 or 4 days. Dunno what I would ever really need a survival kit for.
If something happens I'll deal with it, but I seriously doubt anything would happen where Im sucking dew off a fucking blade of grass to survive.
- Talking about just the US here, and other developed countries.CygnusZero4
- Reading this comment in Summer 2020 is hilariousnb

- the most patient I've ever had to be in life was waiting for a survival knife to arrive by mail as a six year old...mg33
- bought it from Boys Life magazine. 6 weeks for delivery. Six longest weeks of my life.mg33
- ^w/ the compass handle w/ cheap aluminum threads that never seems to screw back on right? yupmoldero

Have enough supplies to bunker down at home unsupported for 3 months.
Keep extra gas for your vehicle & cash in case you need to leave the region.
Anything longer than that is going to be more of a national/international catastrophe and your LifeStraw and fire starter ain't gonna help you.

Just raid the corporate supermarkets!
- hans_glib1
the nearest i've got to prepping is stocking up with a couple of bales of bog roll before the next wave of panic buying starts in the autumn when "covid-19: the return" hits the screens

Is this marriage thing putting all that stress on you? :D
