Or actually they overpriced it to build the brand status, prestige. Some ppl buy stuffs based on that. Thats one reason Hermes Birkin so successful.- I was advised to sell my shirts at a higher price for this reasonGlitterati_Duane

Buying generic looking stuff for exorbitant amounts is just dumb. The shirts I've gotten the most compliments on in the last year were the ones I paid $5 for at used clothing spots :|

just to put it in perspective,
a woman bought a €2000 purse but before exiting she inadvertently took the wrong bag which contained a €32.000 (that's $41000) purse.

I am all for buying expensive clothes, but I would never buy into a fleeting trend that will be outdated next season. I try and purchase things that are timeless, yet have a current feel. This is much easier for men than women, but I think the key thing to keep in mind is "price per wear."
If I buy a suit for 1,000 and wear it twice a month, but get 3 years out of it, I essentially have a suit that costs $14 every time I wore it ($1000/72). That's a good way to justify cost.
I have t-shirts that I wear all the fucking time that cost me $15 and have worn probably 100 times for 7+ years.Even with price/wear in mind, no way would I buy a $400 t-shirt. Fuck that and fuck Barney.

no boy should wear a $425 dollar shirt unless he is on stage with this 4 brothers!

some people have extra money to spend on clothing. they might spend $435 for a shirt like how someone with lesser means or a normal sense of the value of money would spend $50 on a button down at Macys.

It's all relative.

Why so expensive?
Because there are idiots out there who actually pay $500 for a shirt.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for good clothes and know the difference between brand clothing and cheap clothing.... but $425? That is fucking idiotic...

True. What makes a logo worth $50,000 rather than one for $1000?

Some fashion products have legit reasons to be expensive, instead of just a mark-ups or 'brand creds'. And if you like & can afford that & they're good on your body or better, serve you a purpose then yeah!
I've sewn a leather jacket made from a good local lamb nappa & good but ordinary hardwares such as YKK zipper. That could be sold around $400 direct. But if I were to use French or Italian lamb nappa (not much different though, except for the pigment coating) & some elusive hardwares like vintage Talon zipper then it could be easily goes up to $2000 direct. And if you are opt for gator skin...
