I am all for buying expensive clothes, but I would never buy into a fleeting trend that will be outdated next season. I try and purchase things that are timeless, yet have a current feel. This is much easier for men than women, but I think the key thing to keep in mind is "price per wear."
If I buy a suit for 1,000 and wear it twice a month, but get 3 years out of it, I essentially have a suit that costs $14 every time I wore it ($1000/72). That's a good way to justify cost.
I have t-shirts that I wear all the fucking time that cost me $15 and have worn probably 100 times for 7+ years.Even with price/wear in mind, no way would I buy a $400 t-shirt. Fuck that and fuck Barney.
