My local music store had one of these futurist basses for sale for the longest time. As a young teenager I used to stop in and lust after it, dreaming of being in some new wave, post punk band playing it. It sold before I could save up the few hundred dollars they wanted for it. I've thought about this bass for years but never saw anyone ever playing one and random google searches for "80's futuristic headless bass" never turned up any images of it.
Last night I was watching old WIRE videos and saw the bass player playing one on the Suzanne Sommers late night show from 1987 with a W logo on it. After some investigating I finally found it.

Epiphone Riviera Noel Gallagher semi-hollow body
My low E and A strings have a splat/pop sound - almost like funk slap. I'm not experienced with tweaking truss rods or other adjustments. Is there something I should be looking at - raising the bridge screws? Change the strings maybe? Any help is appreciated!- Sounds like it needs a set up for the type of strings you are using. Find a good tech in your area and have your guitar setup how you prefer it. I would avoid..futurefood

- It can be a combination of things. Just use caution, because if you adjust one thing sometimes it affects something else.futurefood

- too late but yes, on riviera sounds like you just need to adjust the action on one side of the bridge.kingsteven
- ive fixed guitars by de-tensioning the truss rod and tapping in, or filing down a fret. people go to adjust the truss far too quickly, it doesn't really do whatkingsteven

Picked up a new (used) Yamaha Broad Bass 434 in Tokyo recently. I now play bass in a cover band and was using a really basic Ibanez Gio bass and this is a definite step up. With the yen where it is and also bringing my passport to get a tax free purchase, I got a great deal. The guy who helped me packed it up in a gig bag (with backpack straps), walked me out to the sidewalk and placed the guitar on my back. It was so formal but cool. Brought it home on the plane as a carry on with no issues and played my first gig with it this past Friday still incredibly jet lagged. Great instrument!

My dad's finally selling his original 1954 Martin D-28.
He developed crippling arthritis in the 90s, had multiple surgeries to keep basic functionality but hasn't played since. He had a band in the 70s, and played with Chubby Checker when he was on tour once.

Joe Pesci’s Gibson Nighthawk
I recently helped out a close friend who is the nephew of actor Joe Pesci. As a thank you, he gave me the guitar on a sort of permanent basis. Not sure if many know, but Joe is a well accomplished guitarist and singer and goes way back to early days with Frankie Valli singing on street corners.
This particular Nighthawk was originally owned by Sammy Kershaw when Gibson gave him a few during the Nighthawk’s initial release back in ‘93. It wasn’t a popular model but it has its own charm and sounds really great.
Kershaw gave this to Joe as the two are close friends and Pesci was guest performing on country tours.
