Hellow fellas,
Any good tip to make a good cover letter?
How much do you talk about the company and how much about you? What do you mention about yourself?Do you mention personal things in it?
cheers, thanks in advance

A girl applied for a job with us recently. She sent her cover letter and resume on our branded stationery that she'd completely redesigned.
It was a huge compliment and impressive she'd taken the time to do so. totally proved to us she wanted to work for our company and wasn't just blanket applying for stuff.
She got the job!
- She redesigned your stationery? She doesn't like it?freshdude
- "a girl"ohhhhhsnap
- she'd never seen our stationery. so she just designed some. pretty cool.mydo
- ahhh i see.
if she redesigned your stuff that would be pretty offensive.Hombre_Lobo - Redesigning is a risk (could work for some), but designing without seeing the original stationery is a bit different.Jaline
- I would consider this insultingMSTRPLN
- it would only be insulting if your branding sucked and you were responsible for it.Gnash

I feel like the shorter the better. Highlight either specific things that are being asked of the position or highlight experiences that show you are ready to handle what they are asking for.
Cover letters just seem redundant and pointless...I hate them and stopped sending them. I recently got an interview without sending one...

Just don't say that you think it would be a good opportunity for you.

A while ago I went out and bought HUGE hex nuts from a scrap yard. They fit a bolt with a 3" diameter. I sandblasted and powder coated them.
Was gonna send them out with a tag that said "Looking for a good fit"
Then I realized how much it was going to cost to mail 10lb nuts across the country. Plus there was the obvious but overlooked sexual connotation.
I now have a box full of 25 powdercaoted, 10lb hex nuts.

I've never written a cover letter before. Is that bad?

PLEASE put a link to your portfolio in there. An actual clickable link if it's an email. Make it contrast the text and have it sit somewhere toward the top of the page.
I generally don't read anything until I've looked at the portfolio, I'm sure many are the same.

When was the last time you sent out a cover letter?
mine is a 2¶ VERY short bio. Tried to make it constitute, when asked for one. Sick of sending them out.
