A contest we entered for Dell titled "Meet Tom"
http://www.poptent.net/media/369…You were not allowed to show the laptop since it hasn't been released yet.
thoughts?

Tom's bi-sexual right and a bit of a tit for walking in to a glass door? It's an ok commercial... It could be on TV and I wouldn't hate it/wouldn't love it.

why would they want to portray the guy who bought their product in this manner though?
- Dell is for everyone not just sexy people.orrinward
- finally I can buy a dell!aanderton
- No one wants to be ordinary people. Sell the sizzle, not the steak. Aspiration is everything, and it never changes, only style.mikotondria3

what orrinward said! haha

It also shows that even though you're ugly and fat, with a Dell, the mediocre looking woman in the office might look at you.

I am buying a sexy DELL as we speak!

Apple has good products but they also sell a lot because they have this "you look cool with an Apple product" thing.
just like @mikotondria3 commented on @formula post.- thing is, it's not just the advertising, the hardware actually looks greatmonospaced

Tom can still use his DELL to get to his morning Fapping material.
I like the storyline though, i just need to make a dicky messageboard remark to keep up my cool factor.

Maybe it's supposed to look like a hand-held camera, but it's enough to make someone a bit sea sick. Otherwise, nice work!

These days, commercials have three jobs:
1. Inform.
2. Entertain. Surprise & delight so well that the viewer feels compelled to send the commercial to their friends. This encourages recall.
3. Provide call to action. What if you sold me? Where do I find it, and what is it called?irrelevant: Do you agree with the above list? If so, do you feel this spot satisfies these criteria?
If not, try these notes:
1. Reconsider script. Why is this laptop better than any other laptop? "...amazingly thin and incredibly powerful..." may not be enough.
2. Slapstick is low-brow. Is this how the market you are attempting to reach prefers to be spoken to?
3. Is there any way you can make this commercial stand out more and differentiate it from any of the competitor's commercials?
4. Dell logo could be more prominent, and stay on-screen a bit longer.Good luck.

sell out! ;-P

It feels like the first idea sort of thing, its cute but not very effective, also i think this has been done before. Execution is decent but ordinary, maybe if the execution was a bit more interesting it just might have been better.
The ending where he is still laying outside at night is just plain stupid though.

Haha, good old Tom. Always knocking himself out by walking into windows due to never getting any.

You don't get to see the product at all. I don't know if I've ever seen a tech gadget spot like that before. When you focus on the man bag, it could show a quick xray view of the laptop. There you could at least show the Dell logo, let it open up, see how thin it is. It's just a :30 spot, so you'd have to be quick about it, but you could shave some time off the girl walking segment.
