I know how you feel. At least start looking for some freelance clients before you push the button. A few months of no Cashola wouldn't really help you at the moment, would it?
- I just asked the clown to post some work because I'm looking and he ignored the post.antagonista
- I'm 99.9% certain he's just butthurt and moaning, but won't quit.antagonista

its a tough place to be, we have all probably been there once or twice. I always focus on being grateful and enjoying the things good in life while at the same time aggressively looking for a mature and sensible way to move on...most times once my headspace changes things mellow out and I turn my attentions to what really counts, being creative and use outlets other than work to do it. I would only quit if your seriously physically depressed because of situations at work that are out of your control. your job happiness is a choice, same as the choice you made when you took the job. a run away ego is a terrible conversation starter. theres books you can read on that. if you can decipher new age crap without getting caught up in it theres a book called the power of now by eckhart tolle that is all about choosing happiness by living in the moment with a clear headspace rather than living for your future haunted by your past overwhelmend by the unceasing voice inside your head (ego) telling you your not ok...spend some time with friends, help someone out/do something good, take some long walks, buy some new music and if all else fails smoke a LITTLE weed...: )

If I officially push tomorrow I have 6 weeks. Meaning right now I have at least freelancing via agencies, I've got just enough contacts at various shops to pay the bills on a bad month, plus my usual little bits of freelance on the side. Then there's always bike messenger work.

bro, I went freelance after being in the same situation, same city, same profession.
if that is what you want to do go for it! otherwise, if you want some full time and challenging work I can point you to a few people.
London is packed full of front end freelance work.shout me for a gas.

rounce... you ever worked remotely? (I'm in Melbourne) Looking for a little coding help for some freelance gigs I have. You will have to post/email some examples of stuff you've worked on by yourself though.

If you are relying on freelance you should have 6-12 months of salary work saved.
I have quit without a plan before. Never pans out. Also, we are starting a new recession, there will be layoffs.
I say stick around, make a plan, save money and go out with a bang.

Some people never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. I have at least 6-8 months of steady work for a front end coder and a prototyper, both fulltime - but ok with working remotely.
Instead, our topic originator rambles on because he's not really going to quit his job, he's just bitching.
- seriously, sounds like you just need to spoon with a puppy or something.antagonista

If you feel this strongly about leaving your current job, its definitely time to go. You will be fine finding other work. There is lots out there.
- For the 10th time, he's not quitting, just bitching.antagonista

I think a lot of people go though similar situations... but it sounds like some of the issues you're having are a little more serious than not liking your job. I say try to address those issues specifically... because if you quit your job, go on vacation and try to come back hoping things will be better I think you'll be right back where you started 2 months ago...
its good to get a new job, its good to take a break / vacation but if you have issues in your life that need to be addressed you need to take care of that or else you're gonna feel pretty shitty for a long time.
hope you find a way through this and good luck
