I would avoid 9mm and got with a 40cal. It's a large gun but why not go with a glock 22?
The issue is if someone breaks in your home, you can shoot them with a 9mm and they can keep going unless its a heart or head shot. That's not the case with 40cal, which is why all police use that now. A body shot with a 40cal will displace everything around it.
Id rather have a larger gun with serious stopping power than being worried about having a tiny gun.

I still love Walther PPK/S, stainless (just something about how they fit in your hand).
Clearly a weakling, though, after reading some of the above comments. You surely need to be able to decapitate an intruder with one shot to be effective. :-)

I love how people without guns try to put down people with them, like we're all maniacs with weapons just looking to kill. Of course the odds are low that someone will ever break into your home, but there are crazy people in every town and break ins are very common. Every day there is news about break ins, some murders, etc..
I don't go around thinking I'm going to be attacked all the time, I'm not paranoid, but if it does happen it's real nice to know that my family is protected at all times. There is a lot to be said for that kind of comfort, knowing they can't be taken from you, or you from them due to some desperate maniac. Everyone thinks it won't happen to them until it does.
Plus it's just fun to go to he gun range and shoot. My girlfriend loves it too. Just got her paperwork for her license.

i was looking at the Beretta px4 storm sub compact, it has a full size version also. all the reviews i could find were positive and it has some really solid protection accidental fire protection built it also.
